Blue Jean Brat

After taking a couple of years off (for school) Vivid's first contract girl, Jamie Summers, returned to boy/girl porn in 1990/91 with "Blue Jean Brat." She'd kept in touch with Vivid, during her semi-retirement, by doing girl/girl scenes in videos like "Where The Boys Aren't", and came back to porn after doing a Tori Welles girl/girl for Andrew Blake in "Night Trips."

Anyway, this production has a terrible script, written by the very, very over-rated Raven Touchstone, having something to do with "talking wigs"...but the video adequately displays Jamie in a variety of scenes: Masturbation, girl/girl, boy/girl, and a threesome with Jeanna Fine and Sikki Nixx (Jeanna's real-life boyfriend at the time, a thin, long-haired porn stud, with more tattoos than Tommy Lee).

Since this is Jamie's comeback, her long-time director/collaborator Paul Thomas, ensures that all the best scenes revolve around her.

The video opens with an excellent girl/girl between Jamie and black Vivid Girl, Heather Hunter. The camera angles are excellent (Jack Remy, as opposed to Ralph Parfait, who would shoot most of Vivid's work from the mid-nineties onward). Particularly, there's a shot in the scene where Heather has Jamie spread out on the bed, eating her, and the camera is above Jamie's head with a clear shot down her body to Heather's face working on Jamie's pussy. The shot is clean, clear and very erotic. It's called "framing" a scene: Something most of today's directors and camera operators in porn know nothing about.

The white mama/black mama contrast of Jamie/Heather is also captured by the camera, black skin caressing white skin, tongues probing body parts. Finally, it should be noted (you'll see why below) that the music in this scene is minimalist...light, soft and unobtrusive. It's a good scene.

The second Jamie highlight is her scene with Biff Malibu, who in the mid-nineties would become Christopher Alexander, and create Anabolic Video--and produce some of the roughest, most degrading, anti-women porn. Malibu has a cruel/handsome face, the physique of a bodybuilder--and the sexual equipment of a ballet dancer. His less-than-impressive cock suggests that there is some truth in two Old Wives Tales...first, that men develop lots of body muscles when they're missing powerful equipment where it matters most; and men who are not well-endowed are sexually abusive to women.

In his boy/girl with Jamie, Malibu is kept in check by a well-choreographed approach from Director Thomas. This scene is heavy on tease, with Jamie doing a slow strip for Biff, followed by a blow job on his little wee-wee, then Jamie rides him cowgirl style, before they do a final missionary position on the floor. The heat from this scene is all from the choreography and the beautiful, well toned bodies-in-motion. By the way, Malibu really seems to enjoy the sex...he's all moans and smiles, especially when Jamie is giving head.

The final, and what should be the best, scene in the video is the three-way with Jeanna and Sikki. Jeanna is clearly into Jamie. Jamie, who from the beginning of her career always favored Girl/Boy/Girl scenes, is happy as a clam. And Sikki is just glad to be there.

This is a very long scene, with a constant rotation of who's doing Jamie, between Jeanna and Sikki. More often than not Jamie is sandwiched between the two of them--and enjoys every minute. Somebody's tongue is always on her clit.

Sikki finishes the scene with a vigorous fuck with Jamie, but by that time, most of the heat has already been exhausted. When Jeanna Fine is in a scene, she's a very, very hard act to follow--man or woman.

Now about the music. While reviewing music should not dominate a porn video review, when it DISTRACTS from the action, it should be mentioned. And, when the production company has chosen to ADD new music to the DVD (changing what was on the videocassette)--and the change doesn't work--it's even more of a reason to mention it.

As has been mentioned before, Vivid is changing the music on its re-issued Brat Classics. Trying, I guess, to make them "modern." Don't do it. The music in the three-way works against the erotic content, distracting from the action. I recommend that the viewer mute the sound. This music is LOUD, has the wrong "feel" and should accompany a car chase scene in an action movie.

It just amazes me that Vivid Video continues to malign its product in post production. Either inaccurate credits, editing without regard to logic or erotic heat, or adding music that has the wrong feel for a scene. Somebody has got to do something about their Quality Control.

Final note on "Blue Jean Brat". There are two non-Jamie scenes that are quite good. One is a girl/girl between Jeanna Fine and Devon Shire. And the other is a boy/girl between Devon and a one-shot wonder, identified as Peejay (I think).

Extras: the "B" side of this DVD is very good. New scenes from some of the Vivid Girls, and a change in the "Hot Scenes" from other Vivid features. In addition, like all of Vivid's current DVDs, "Blue Jean Brat" has a separate DVD of previews and features.

Bottom Line: Turn off the sound in the Jamie/Jeanna/Sikki three-way, and this is a very good DVD.
