Free Lovin'

Had it been directed by anyone other than Michael Zen, I might not have expected as much from Free Lovin', a Metro/Cal Vista feature starring Claudia Chase and Mark Davis. However, this is pretty average stuff, and stands as a bigger disappointment because it is a Zen film, a man who almost always finds something fresh to show or say in his features.

Our story begins as we see Mark and Claudia in bed, each fantasizing about another person. In Mark's fantasy, he is licking out Syren, who returns the favor by giving him a blowjob. There's no intercourse here, but Syren gets a nice-sized load all over her tits from Mark. Claudia too has a fantasy...this one with Tony Tedeschi, to whom she gives her own blowjob, although there is no cumshot at the end of this scene.

The next day, the couple's neighbor (played by Danielle Rogers) notifies them that they are getting new neighbors. The surprise is that the neighbors are Syren and Tony (who strangely remind one of John Lennon and Yoko Ono when they are together), who give Mark and Claudia a supposedly "magic" lava lamp and are told to rub it when they are looking for some "free love". Later, Mark rubs the lamp and it results in Syren running into the apartment and asking Mark to come help her with a problem she is having with the bidet in her bathroom. Mark fixes the problem, but not before both of them are soaking wet. Syren takes off her shirt and informs Mark that she and Tony are swingers (woo hoo!) and into fooling around with other people. Well, Mark doesn't need to be told twice, and quickly locks bodies with Syren.

Meanwhile, Claudia makes her way home and hears the pants of passion in the other apartment. At first she thinks it is Tony with Syren, but she rubs the lamp and Tony shows up, offering Claudia a ride on his motorcycle. The two head off to a secluded place where Claudia finally gets to give the blowjob to Tony she has been dreaming about, along with taking on his big tool.

Later that night, there is a hot orgy in Tony and Syren's apartment, which includes Kyle Stone, Dee, and (although she doesn't show up until halfway into the action) Danielle. Despite all the bodies, this isn't a very exciting or hot sequence. There is a moment during the scene when Mark and Claudia peek in the door to see what is going on, but they never get involved in the action, which might have helped turn up the heat.

Fortunately, the last scene in the movie is a fairly sizzling one, and saves the movie from being a total letdown. Claudia fulfills Mark's fantasy by dressing up in leather and taking control of the action. There is some hot reverse cowgirl action before Mark takes her in the missionary position and unleashes a huge load on her breasts. I won't go into the goofy way this movie ends, only to say that the attempt to put a neat twist on all that has gone on before totally falls flat.

The best part of the features on this DVD is the behind the scenes look at the movie, which doesn't have as much depth as other featurettes I have seen (this one is mostly fluff), but it's always nice to see the actresses and actors off-screen to get a small look into what they are like in real life. The audio and video are above average, and there are a nice number of trailers to look at as well. Additionally, there is the option to listen to the movie in German, of all languages, which is kind of funny to watch and a good excuse for all the college students out there studying German to watch some porn.

Unless you are a huge Claudia Chase or Syren fan, I would pass on Free Lovin'. Of course, if you are part of a couple trying to get your partner to consider opening up your relationship, you might innocently pick this title up for your next night of home viewing. Who knows, maybe your gal will don the leather and rock your world!

This Michael Zen video has a lot of potential, but is marred by some lukewarm performances and a gawdawful soundtrack. The DVD provides an excellent transfer, with sharp color reproduction and only slight amounts of pixelation. The audio is equally good, and comes with a German language track that makes for a few laughs.

While the DVD has a lot of alternate-angle footage, it doesn't appear to be true-perspective footage, as the box claims.
