Good Fun and Good Sex

By Cain
Inari Vachs plays Officer Wednesday in "No Man's Land 36," another entry in a long list of "Dragnet" spoofs. The familiar deadpan opening monologue establishes time and place, Los Angeles in the present, ending with Inari stating, "I work here. I carry a strap-on." Given the number of times we saw Joe Friday brandishing his in the "Dragnet" series, it's fitting that Inari never actually uses a strap-on here. And like Friday, this is because she doesn't need it. Playing her partner, Jill Cannon, is the ever-popular Felecia. Both girls have two sex scenes, the second one together; it's the last, and arguably the best scene in the film. In an industry that routinely pairs strangers with one another, this scene is perhaps a kind of proof that familiarity is under-appreciated. Inari and Felicia are, in the real world, friends and partners, touring together as an as-yet-unnamed dance duo. I have to believe that this level of intimacy added a noticeable spark to their scene together here.

In a departure from the norm, "NML 36" was not written by Martin Brimmer; the writing credit here goes to Marie MacDonald. Brimmer's scripts rarely have much a storyline; MacDonald's does. It's silly, sure, but it's also consistent, and that, in itself, is worth noting. In the weird world of the film, lesbians have suddenly started buying up all the available inflatable girl-dolls on the market; when one of these, belonging to closet lesbian Alexa Rae, is , Friday and Cannon are called in. Their investigation takes them to an informant, a dealer (who has her dolls strung out on helium), and finally to the kidnapper, Anthony Crane ("in a non-sex role"). It ain't much, but it's more than most girl-girl films provide in the way of sexual context, one of eroticism's main ingredients.

This strategy pays off most effectively in the second scene, a three-way with Flick Shagwell (the dealer), Nikita Denise (a jones-ing client), and Felecia. The scene begins with Inari and Felecia questioning Flick; Nikita enters as the two cops leave. Acting on a nagging suspicion, Felecia returns a few moments later. By this time, the cash-strapped Nikita has already determined that the best way into Flick's good graces is through her pussy. When Felecia re-enters the scene, Nikita has just started on Flick's tits. And the turn-on here is the way Nikita continues to lick and suck Flick's breasts while Felicia and Flick verbally spar with one another. Without the story, this erotic dimension of the scene would have been lost.

Nikita Denise, who was so well served by Krista Leigh in "Girls School," gets her chance to give some of that back to her co-stars in this scene. And she does. She's great with tits and only gets better when she's got Felecia spread out before her. Watching her eat pussy is a highlight of the film. The scene loses something after this when, for some inexplicable reason, the director shunts Felicia to the side where she has to masturbate with a vibrator while Nikita rides Flick's strap-on; still, the first half of the scene is something special.

Special also is the last scene, with Inari and Felecia. Watching Inari's near-passionless scene with Samantha Slater earlier in the film (which, to be fair, may have been partly the result of Samantha's inexperience; this is her first film), it came as a pleasurable relief to see her performance with Felecia. Matching Nikita's tongue-bathing pussy-eating technique, Inari is all over Felecia's vagina. Obviously into it, Felecia tongue-fucks Inari's ass in a manner all the more exciting precisely for its being so passionate. From beginning to end, this is the best scene in the film.

"NML 36" is one of the strongest entries in the "No Man's Land" series not because of these two scenes alone, but because four of its five scenes are worth watching. The best of the other two is the first scene in the film, with Vietnamese-born Bamboo and a brunette named Dru Berrymoore. Bamboo appears to really want to get off and at one point Dru must abandon a vibrator after only very brief use in order to help her do so (Bamboo's body language tells us, as well as Dru, that the vibe just isn't working). An honest performance is almost always a turn-on.

The "NML 36" disc includes both a Behind the Scenes short that features brief introductions to each of the stars of the film and a much more interesting segment with Felecia and Inari organized around their photo shoot for the boxcover. It's here that we learn about their dance collaboration. After admitting that their act still doesn't have a name, Felecia asks her unseen interviewer to suggest one. Felecia's expression when the guy refuses even to take a stab at it is priceless: it's the way a beautiful woman who's trying to carry on a normal conversation might like at a guy who's only interested in looking at her chest. The name most commonly suggested, Felecia tells us, is "The Naturals", a tribute to the fact that neither she nor Inari have any tattoos, body piercings, or enhancements. I have to admit it sounds better than "The Dying Breed".

This was an okay all girl video, but nothing really standout.

This was an okay all girl video with nothing really standout, but there were some good scenes. The plot is mostly a Dragnet parody. Felicia and Inari are detectives searching for a blow-up doll. If it sounds moronic, well it is, but they actually get a couple of good laughs out of it.

Audio and video quality are good. The locations for the scenes are pretty standard: bedrooms and living rooms.

There are five sex scenes. The first scene is the worst, and completely devoid of anything appealing. It is a one on one between Dru Berrymore and Bamboo. I'm not going to mince words, Dru Berrymore ruins this scene because she's not an attractive woman.

The second scene is much better; a three-way between Nikita, Flick, and Felicia. It's the second best scene in the video.

The third is a one on one between Inari and Samantha. Inari is the only one really worth watching in this scene. Samantha is a newbie and doesn't show many signs of life. She also has an ugly tattoo on her hip; the director really should have turned her around so it wouldn't have been visible during the scene.

The fourth scene between Cleopatra and Alexa is good. Both are very attractive and Alexa displays a lot of energy.

The video ends on a high note with a one on one between Felicia and Inari. Both girls are beautiful, and when they get together, sparks fly.

There are some good extras. There is a behind the scenes segment where all the girls get a little time on camera to answer the interviewer's stupid questions. There is also a segment on the photo shoot for the video's cover with Felicia and Inari. There is some interesting stuff here, as the two are apparently pretty good friends in real life and are about to embark on a dance tour as a duo. They've dubbed themselves "The Naturals" to highlight the fact that neither of them have any tattoos, piercings, or plastic surgery. I enjoy seeing interviews with girls like this.

This video was decent, but still hard to recommend as there is so much better stuff out there. I would suggest passing on this one unless you can get it cheap or you are a rabid Felicia fan.
