No Man's Land 22

"No Man's Land 22" is subtitled, "Four Seasons: An L.A. Story" - which is, or might as well be, a satirical jibe at Hollywood. A vague one, to be sure: neither of the films it calls to mind (Alan Alda's "The Four Seasons" nor Steve Martin's "L.A. Story") has any narrative relevance to this film, but the joke is carried further and extended by the story itself. Angelica Sin plays a disaster movie director in the veritable land of disasters. California's unfortunate propensity toward calamity serves as the organizing principle of the film. As each segment ends a new disaster strikes: earthquake, fire, flood, and finally, as a direct result of Ms. Sin trying to out-disaster Irwin Allen himself, a literal plague of locusts. The viewer never sees any of this, of course, but then this is hardly necessary to "get" the punchline: Ms. Sin, disgraced in Hollywood, has no alternative but to turn to directing porn.

And porn, all-girl porn in particular, is what this movie is really all about. Being the lead, Angelica is the only girl in the cast to be featured in more than one scene. She is paired with her lover Taylor St. Clair in the first scene and with her boss and first love Teri Starr in the fourth. Both Taylor and Terri are prettier: Taylor is scrumptious in a light blue chemise and Terri is sexy in her professional skirt and blouse. Angelica's scene with Terri is the better of the two, principally because Terri cums twice, and Terri, somewhat like Chandler, is very orgasmically demonstrative: she squeals and cums spasmodically in a way that really pulls the viewer into the action. Unaccountably, director Wesley Emerson cuts both of these cum shots short, but enough survives to be a real turn-on.

All girl-girl actresses eat pussy, but some of them look better doing it. Maybe it's the eyes or the cheekbones or the way their hair frames their face - whatever it is, some girls look more beautiful with their faces between another girl's legs. Shay Sweet is one example, Taylor St. Clair another. Had Emerson recognized this, he would have heightened the eroticism of Taylor's scene with Angelica. Instead, he has her unwind Angelica's long pearl necklace and insert the better part of it in Angelica's pussy. It's not bad, even so, but the very length of the necklace doesn't leave a lot of time for cunnilingus.

Katie Gold, however, comes to the rescue in the next scene. If she doesn't prefer women, women may nevertheless prefer her. She may not look as good as Taylor doing it, but she eats pussy with the glorious abandon of a girl who really enjoys it. Later, she gets fucked with a strap-on in a segment that never really comes off because Emerson can't get a decent angle on the action. In between, she takes one end of a two-headed dildo in a much better segment; better because she and her partner, on their backs, use their hips instead of their hands to grind the dildo in and out. Emerson wisely keeps both girls in the shot for most of the action, allowing the shared nature of the experience to draw in the viewer as well.

The strap-on is used to more erotic effect in the next scene, with Taylor Moore and Mandi Frost. The narrative has them stranded in their office during a torrential downpour; the sex eventually has Mandi bent over a desk with Taylor fucking her from behind. It's a good position and Emerson this time has no trouble getting the angle, but the action is rather brief. Too short also is Mandi's cunnilingus. Both girls perform well in this regard, but Mandi has the reward of hearing Taylor moaning about how good it feels when her partner tongue-fucks her. With a bit more kissing to get the action started, this is probably the film's most completely satisfying scene.

The last scene is Angelica's porn directing debut and it features the always cute Gina Ryder in a three-girl tryst with Cheyenne and Heaven Leigh. Gina cums loudly, but that's her principal contribution to what is, otherwise, a weak scene on all fronts. Wesley Emerson falls into the usual group-sex trap, failing - miserably so in this case - to form his performers into a cohesive group. One or another of the girls is usually standing more or less idly by while the other two go at it.

These days, a fifth sex scene almost seems like a bonus anyway, so this final effort doesn't particularly detract from what is, overall, a pretty solid all-girl film, with a couple of truly memorable moments.
