Shane's World 24: Spring Break

As one of the longest running and most successful true gonzo series, Shane's World is always a treat for those looking for a fun-seeking approach to porn; or those that simply wish to see more than Wild On or Girls Gone Wild will allow. In this installment, a group of six Shane's World party-goers (Jesse, Blair Segal, Samantha Sterlyng, Felicia Ryder, Voodoo, and Dillion Day) cross the border into Mexico for a trip to the seaside resort town of Cabo San Lucas. Shot back in the Spring of 2000, it appears that the crew arrived a bit too early for Spring Break, as there aren't many college students around at all. But with a condo near the beach, the gang find plenty to do with (and to) each other.

Being the first Shane's World episode I've seen on DVD, I couldn't help but be impressed with the way this one turned out. The video transfer looks really crisp with only a bit of pixelation. For a gonzo production, the audio is quite good. There's plenty of dialogue/rambling in this video and all of it can easily be heard without tweaking the volume every few seconds. But what impressed me the most were the extras. Sure there's the usual photo gallery, trailers, and cast bios, but there's also 50 minutes worth of bonus footage containing a mix of hardcore and behind the scenes style material. It's put together so well that I found it almost as entertaining as the feature. There's also another extra scene with Blair Segal and Naughtia Childs. This includes some interview footage as the two sit side-by-side on a couch. Then they move on to some masturbation; nothing mind blowing, but still fun to watch.

Shane's World 24: Spring Break lacks the spontaneity seen in more memorable installments, but it's still put together well, maintaining the fun loving and care-free atmosphere that's characterized the series for so long. In terms of action, all the scenes feature condoms and there's no anal, but the enthusiasm of the cast more than make up for the lack of harder content.
