Club DV8

Directed by F.J. Lincoln, CLUB DV8 is a fairly cleverly titled release which originally appeared without a whole lot of fanfare in the early nineties. While not really a classic by any means, this video does feature some exceptional performers of the past whom, for whatever reason, never achieved the star status that they deserve. The movie is basically about a woman, played by Deborah Welles, who inherits a club called the "Blue Light Inn". As it turns out, the place has become a rough and ready strip bar catering to some of porn's hottest talents. There really is no story to speak of, but who cares? The sex in CLUB DV8 is first-rate.

Hungarian brunette Welles performs in an opening scene with Randy West. I have sung the praises of this gorgeous creature before in titles like PASSION IN VENICE and PUSSYMAN 4, but her scene here is one that I somehow managed to miss back in my videotape rental days. Suffice to say, Deborah's suck and fuck encounter here continues to affirm my partiality towards this sexy woman. Her exotic great looks and lean body make any scene with her a joy to watch, and when she sucks on cock, her devilish eye contact is simply too much to resist.

When Deborah goes to her new place of business, she finds all sorts of acts of depravity going on, with a pre-Vivid Girl Dyanna Lauren bumping and grinding onstage, and Shawnee Cates giving the (former) manager (played by the now-infamous Marc Wallice) a desk-side blowjob which ends in a cum facial. Meanwhile, Lilli Xene takes centerstage with a frenzied masturbation show, while a circle jerk forms around her. This scene is similar to the one featured in John Leslie's classic CURSE OF THE CATWOMAN, where Zara Whites became the object of everyone's affection as guys pounded their meat all around her (there was also a disturbing shot of one of the guys licking the head of his own penis, which I could have done without). Since I normally dislike extended shots of guys playing with themselves, I can't say that anyone else would find much repeat value in this scene, but it's the only mediocre point of the movie.

On the other hand, things pick up again when Sunset Thomas, Monique Montana and Dizzy Blonde join Joey Silvera in a frolicking foursome. The look and feel of this scene, especially with the initial focus on the girls' hot, tight asses, reminded me of John Stagliano's FACEDANCE films. This scene doesn't quite measure up to the standards of that award-winning series, but there is a good mix of lesbian and straight sex here to please any hardcore aficionado.

Now a director for Vivid, Dyanna Lauren has rarely looked sexier than in this video, where her hardbody is on ample display thanks to some shiny, skin-tight outfits. Unfortunately, we never get to see her in action here, which would be incredibly disappointing had it not been for the other hot scenes which end the movie. But in order to see Dyanna at her performance best, one needs to look no further than BAD WIVES and NO MOTIVE where she really shows what she's made of.

Whenever Debi Diamond is around, the viewer knows that they are in for a highly-charged sexual treat. Here, she is teamed up with the one and only Rocco Siffredi, who immediately starts fucking her on a table after an almost complete absence of foreplay. Tall, blonde and leggy, Debi Diamond is a real beauty whose physical appeal is often underrated and overwhelmed by her over-the-top performances. Here, she runs the whole gamut of intense fucking, deep and hard cocksucking, and performing brief rim jobs on Rocco (this was before butt licking became rather commonplace). A cumshot to the mouth leads into some obvious swallowing, which makes this scene the hands-down best in the whole film.

CLUB DV8 closes with another Rocco love fest, as Porsche Lynn and Melanie Moore join him for a threesome. Since each of these actresses have never really been known for any over-the-top performances, it's fair to say that even together, it's hard for them to match the kind of intensity and heat which Debi brings to a scene. Nevertheless, Porsche does some excellent cocksucking, and Melanie falls into line with a rim job on Mr. Siffredi followed by some hard doggy-style fucking. Rocco predictably leads the girls into all sorts of creative sexual positions, leaving Debi and Deborah all hot and bothered as they watch and masturbate (again, I would bitch and bitch like hell that the two Debs were not given the obvious chance to indulge in each other, but the Rocco/Porsche/Melanie threesome made up for this deficiency).

Though Sin City seems to be improving their DVD transfers with each release, this disc does suffer from the same chapter problems (where speed searching backward past a chapter point is impossible), as well as the lack of an accurate time coding. Also, those un-chapter skipable ads at the beginning of each and every Sin City video to date have got to go! It's impossible to sell a product when one hates the commercial, which is the probable effect those damn 1-900 and internet sex ads are doing to the viewer.

From an audio standpoint, the sound is fine and intelligible. The video, on the other hand, is a bit too dark at times, a fault of the original production and/or mastering. It's too bad part of this movie's apparently larger than average budget couldn't have gone into another piece of lighting equipment or two so that the action could be better viewed.

Despite the problems, this film is a definite winner and worth your time and hard-earned money. I wished I had discovered CLUB DV8 before its DVD appearance, as it would have been a much-repeated video in my library of porn. Happily, the DVD medium gives the video a second chance to find its audience.
