Perfect Kiss

Director David Stanley has made a name for himself in porn by making movies that are, for lack of a better work, quite surreal. He may be porn's answer to David Lynch - and like Lynch, Stanley doesn't feel the need to confuse the audience with every movie he makes. Perfect Kiss is one of those films. It's a pretty straightforward tale, although it's told more through the use of visuals than actual dialogue from the performers.

The movie begins in 1994, with high school sweethearts Mercedez and Eric Masterson making out with each other on a couch. Mercedez rides Eric reverse cowgirl, followed by penetration in the spoon position. In one of the more interesting pop-shots I've seen in porn in a few years, Eric aims his sperm for the middle of Mercedez back, shooting in between her shoulder blades. Odd indeed, but this is a David Stanley movie, after all.

Still in 1994, Mercedez and Eric get together with a group of their friends for a round of "spin the bottle". After a few spins, Mercedez is required to go off alone with Chris Cannon - and the two get into some hot and heavy sex while they're gone (including Mercedez making the best use of her ample cleavage - first by rubbing Chris' cock in between her tits, then jerking him off onto them for the climax). When Chris and Mercedez return to the room with the others, Eric suspects the two have had sex and gets insanely jealous - smashing the bottle they were playing with over Chris' head and attacking him.

The movie then jumps ahead to current day, and we discover that Eric has gone to jail for his attack on Chris and is just now being released from prison (10 years in the slammer for assault...that's pretty stiff!). Mercedez and Chris are now a couple, and they are dreading what will happen when Eric is a free man again.

Shortly after being released, Eric is walking by a fenced-up home and he sees Ashley Long and Mario Rossi making out on the other side of the bars. Ashley bends over for standing doggy from behind, and then mounts Mario in the reverse cowgirl position. The action concludes with a nice pop-shot into Ashley's mouth and onto her chin.

I usually don't get too involved in porn storylines...mostly because they never seem to be fleshed-out (no pun intended). But I have to admit that I was anxious to see what Eric would do when he came across Mercedez and Chris again. Would he flip out and attack both of them? Would he steal Mercedez back? Would he talk them into a threesome (I was hoping for this last one!). Sadly, the answer is none of the above. Other than Chris and Erik making up, little happens plot-wise for the rest of the movie.

What we do get is an okay lesbian scene between Mercedez and Devon Michaels (lots of oral and a little toy play); and a really nice scene between Cherokee and Steven St. Croix which gets my vote for the hottest scene in Perfect Kiss. There's a really hot position where Cherokee has her legs extended between two table tops while Steven is fucking her doggy that is really worth checking out. Cherokee has long been one of the more underrated performers in this industry, and this segment will show you why.

Extras on the disc include the typical five bonus scenes from other Vivid releases - three of which showcase Mercedez and are taken from the movies Acting Out, Driving Mercedez Wild and So I Married A Porn Star. The disc also includes a nine-minute behind the scenes segment; a pair of slide shows; a text biography for Mercedez; and four trailers for other Vivid titles. Unlike most releases from Vivid, this one doesn't have a multiple angle option.
