Meet Cassidey

It sounds like a strange distinction, but I would categorize Meet Cassidey more as a sexualized film than a pornographic one. That's a hazy line, to be sure, but when the production value of a film is really more in its sound, sight, and presentation, rather than who's the girl and what's she doing, then I think we fall just the other side of the line.

There are elements right off the bat that make it somewhat pornographic in genre, such as the scene menu (still harkening to the who/what paradigm), and some of the stereotypes in costuming like leather pants and the like. But even in the opening scene, the fellatio is presented with such carefully considered camera and lighting effects that I am again thinking more of a mainstream sexualized film. It was almost a bit disturbing when the music dropped out completely, leaving only the sounds of the stars. This works from a pornographic standpoint, but becomes more prurient than artistic. Cassidey does show off some amazing oral skills, with long lingering camera shots and excellent sound, making that almost worth the purchase price in and off itself.

The music does come back in, just in time for penetration, though having Cassidey make the usual "Oh! Fuck yeah!" type statements really clashes with both the setting and the music. I would have almost gone to music only for that part, if we are to keep the same artistic standard. The sex itself is reasonably intense, and ends with a mouthshot, though what I really liked about the end of the scene was the fact that you could see Cassidey's freckles with enough of the makeup gone. She seemed more real that way.

The second scene seemed more stereotypically lesbian art porn. Look, two girls, overly made-up, with quick camera cuts and they're not really looking at each other. Just a bit odd... there was no sense of flow to setting up this scene, which hurt the way it came off. I mean, I like the empty loft and all, and the lighting that provides makes for some good camerawork, but there was no sense of space, no continuity to action, and thus no establishment for what was to come. So it really was much to my surprise when a guy showed up and started going down on the blonde, while Cassidey, well, didn't really do much of anything. That's okay, though, as she quickly disappears, implying that her purpose for being there was to continue the theme of the disc. The sex itself in this scene is a bit more lukewarm than the previous, nothing really to write home about, and the blonde had so much eye makeup on that it looked as though her eyes were always closed. There is some anal, which, as always, piqued my interest, though it too was not nearly as hot as it could have been. The facial at the end really gives us a good look into here eyes and face, and the makeup was definitely a hindrance. She has amazing eyes, and it's a shame they're overshadowed.

Up next is really one of the better lesbian scenes I've seen in some time, possibly since Jenna Haze and Belladonna in Fetish Fanatics 2 Cassidey is an absolute animal to a very cute brunette, and the action itself seemed quite real. In some of the more artistic films, the lesbian scenes tend not to come off, as they're too cold and the stars too detached from each other. There's ultimately just a bit too much toy work for my taste, but I know quite a few others are into that, so I'll be muted in my criticism.

Cassidey's final scene is really quite well done, and I like the fact that her hair looked a bit less towards stereotypical fashion (Can we lose the big sunglasses already? They still look dumb), though the action is a bit softer here in the end. I was rather hoping for a bit of anal from Cassidey (I should know better), given the number of establisher shots throughout the film that really showed off her tremendous ass. Well done, though.

I'm trying to be more positive towards this type of film, and Ethan Kane's directing makes that quite easy. There's very little porn stereotype here (no guy in gloves and gasmask, no overly odd effects, no woman on a balcony of a mansion with a pool below) that tends to afflict this type of feature. Overall, it's quite good, though if you want hard porn, probably look elsewhere. If you want some artistry with your sex, then look no further.
