There would be no way that a title like Ass Addiction could be a bad thing, right? Look at the first title in the series, starring Katja Kassin and Naomi, and the attractive talent in the second installment, featuring the lovely Rebeccas Linares. So the third in the series, including Alexis Texas, should be awesome, right? Well, not if Robby D has anything to say about it.

I generally think so, but I have to turn the volume off to make it work. Having Robby D talk about how he goes to the ghetto neighbourhoods to find the girls with the bigger asses is not only unspeakably classist, but something that should not have been mentioned in the first place. This was in Jenny's scene, and when you add Ben English to the mix (who seems like a nice enough guy, but is rougher with the female talent than I'd like), and the scene just didn't work at all for me.

So I'll just think happy thoughts, commenting first on the scene with Alexis Texas. While Robby's comments from behind the camera annoy me (they always have, as long as I've been doing this), staring at the big ass on Alexis is more than enough reason to put up with it. The sequence of posing is just mind blowing, and the long lingering looks are perfect. There isn't much passion here, and for a film that is supposed to be capturing asses, the camera angles are just far too low to be effective. There isn't enough mid and long shot establishers, and the closeups get to be far too monotonous.

There isn't much in the way of extras on the disc, either, though the bonus scene with Brianna Love does a bit to assuage my annoyance. Though when it's more of the same directorial nonsense, calling it a bonus is a stretch. Calling additional trailers on the disc a bonus (literally, that's what they're labelled as: "Special Bonus Trailers") is just an insult to our intelligence, and the slideshow is such ordinary fare, we shouldn't think of it as a bonus.

In an era where the DVD is under threat from the thievery of digital piracy, studios have to step up with their best efforts to convince an audience that they are still relevant. Many of the studios have answered that call loudly. But Digital Playground is slipping if they think Ass Addiction 3 is going to convince too many people to part with their money, and Robby D needs to consider his audience in his work. Watch the classist and generally sexist notions, and stop with the bloody whispering, and I'll give you another shot.
