Sasha Grey's Anatomy

I finished watching SASHA GREY'S ANATOMY with a smile on my face, an empty bottle of lotion by my side, and a wad of used tissues overflowing from my wastebasket. I enjoyed it a lot, and I'm happier than Sunny Leone's treating gynecologist that I now own it on Blu-ray disc. It's a fun and fiery little porn title which isn't burdened by any cinematic pretenses, nor is it cheapened by just being another faceless gonzo flick. As the title suggests, the feature focuses on doctors, nurses and patients, as well as sexual cures to physiological ailments. It is probably the most recited cliché in porn, and has been self-parodied time and time again, perhaps most popularly in John Leslie and Jim Holliday's semi-classic NIGHT SHIFT NURSES series from VCA. Yet, SASHA GREY'S ANATOMY works well, despite its worn-out concept. The cold, sterile setting of a medical facility doesn't exactly add heat or atmosphere to the routine set-ups, but the female talent makes it all worth our while. Is this a great movie? Nope, but it is pretty damn good hardcore.

I'm much more a fan of Sasha Grey than I am of the television show which obviously serves as the basis of this Blu-ray's title and theme. Indeed, the last medical series I've ever seen as a regular viewer was "St. Elsewhere," and underrated series which enjoyed some popularity during the Reagan Revolution. Whether S.G.'s ANATOMY. adheres faithfully to the formula of its boob-tube (or should that now be "boob-flat panel display"?) counterpart is beyond my knowledge. All that matters to me - and probably to 99.98% of the male audience - is that this video contains some hard-bodied hotties, all acting out my wettest of wet dreams.

No matter how she's presented (from the box cover packaging, to the opening credits, and throughout her first scene), Sasha Grey always looks gorgeous. We first see her wrapped up in a white lab coat and black high heels which draw attention to her long legs and petite figure. Like Taylor Rain, Jenna Haze, Teagan Presley and a handful of other preferred starlets who stay away from silicone, piercings and tattoos, Miss Grey keeps her appearance fresh and natural (so natural, that her unshaven nether-regions may be a surprise to some viewers). It's no wonder that both her sultry looks and sexual attitude have blasted her to the top of the blue movie industry. Her opening scene (set in a morgue, of all places) demonstrates just how talented she really is. Sasha and Jay Lassiter have a brief physical affair which easily trumps every scene that follows. After the set-up (which involves some unintelligible dialogue and some preliminary action where a "dead" body is rolled out on a slab), Ms. Grey goes down on the very, very, very lucky Mr. Lassiter whose dick is - unbelievably enough - as limp as wet hot dog bun (maybe it's the corpses nearby which distract him).

However, slowly but surely - and without any editing or breaking away by the camera - she brings him to life, sucking, spitting and lapping at him, with frequent eye-contact but without any "hands-on" assistance, until he is at full attention. Her oral work alone is enough reason to pick up this disc, but Miss Grey doubles the erotic value by taking him up the ass in missionary and doggy-style positions. As she talks down and dirty, the director wisely gives viewers as many full body shots as possible so that viewers can enjoy every square inch of Sasha's personal anatomy. Yet inexplicably, Mr. Lassiter seems to lose his erection once or twice while buried in Sasha's butt, and so she resorts to oral resuscitation to keep him going. Fortunately, he manages to squirt out a respectable volume of man-goo which spills into her mouth and overflows onto her hand which the camera captures close-up. Obviously, it's not a perfect scene, but Sasha makes it memorable.

Unfortunately, that is the only time we get to see her in all-out action. After a grand-slam beginning, she disappears from the rest of the movie, save only for an introductory cameo setting up the final scene between Faye Reagan and Chris Cannon. Sure, we get to hear disembodied voice deliver a BLADE RUNNER-monotone narration throughout, but it's not the same thing as seeing her in the flesh.

I was ready to lower expectations once we faded to black and away from Miss Grey, but much to my orgasmic delight, the remainder of ANATOMY never failed to impress. Blonde Bobbi Eden (described by Sasha as working her way to medical school by moonlighting as a pornstar...which in this trend towards socialized medicine, is probably the wrong career move) helps Cheyne Collins out with his premature ejaculation by sucking and fucking him for an extended period and then letting him splooge on her feet. For a change of pace, the next scene features an incredibly cute brunette Courtney James, who gets tag teamed by Marco Banderas and the surname-less Jerry, which doesn't have any of the reasonably expected double-penetration action, but is still arousing nonetheless.

Clichés continue when Mia Smiles and Jayme Langford appear next, all ready, willing and able to deliver the requisite girl-girl scene. I've seen Mia Smiles perform back in the early nineties, and as cute as she is, I haven't been overwhelmingly impressed by her work (despite her appearances in nearly three hundred titles!). However, this was the first time I've ever seen Jayme on the blu screen (pun intended) and I was immediately smitten her red hair and fresh-faced beauty. She's a real looker, folks, and while her lesbian scene isn't exactly on the level of Viv Thomas, I enjoyed watching her dine on Mia, and in turn, getting eaten out herself.

SASHA GREY'S ANATOMY concludes with the aforementioned coupling between Faye and Chris Cannon. Dr. Grey diagnoses that Mr. Cannon is suffering from constant erections (Viagra addictions will do that to you), and Faye is called upon to relieve his so-called problem. They do it in all the standard positions, leading up to a fairly weak orgasmic spasm into her mouth. For a guy who supposedly can't control his hard-on, you would think he would shoot off a better load.

Some time ago, I was given the opportunity to review, DEBBIE DOES DALLAS...AGAIN!, a big disappointment when it came to my first erotic "high definition" experience. The picture was so grainy and washed out, that it felt like sand was constantly being thrown in my eyes. However, ANATOMY looks terrific. Sure the video is not as breathtaking as some of the better mainstream Blu-rays I've seen, but for adult material, it is at least as good as the deservedly celebrated Digital Playground releases. Primary colors are almost absent, but that is probably due to the design of the movie itself. Since I was unable to compare this disc to the standard definition version, I cannot absolutely positively guarantee that an upgrade would be worthwhile. However, the clearly revealing textures (and imperfections) of the female flesh beginning with Sasha's silky smooth legs and ending with Faye Reagan's cute but very noticeable freckles on her face, are more lifelike than any other high definition porno I've seen recently. It proves to me that Blu-ray viewing is the only way to go.

The Dolby Digital soundtrack, however, is presented straightforwardly in two-channels (that's plain vanilla stereo to all those audiophiles out there) and could have benefitted from some post-production mixing. Dialogue is difficult to hear (Jay Lassiter mumbles so much in the first scene that I had to rely on his physical over-acting to convey the "story") and even Sasha's narration sounds a bit too flat and muted at times. Again, those problems really have nothing to do with the Blu-ray performance and everything to do with the production.

I also complained bitterly about Vivid eliminating a large chunk of the extras which appeared on the original DVD version of DEBBIE....AGAIN. Luckily, nothing significant is spared here. The Blu-ray of S.G.'s ANATOMY retains the behind the scenes documentary found on the original release, as well as all the trailers, and photo gallery. The images on the still pictures are crisp, clean and worth looking at once or twice if you're that interested, but the trailers are listed as icons with pictures apparently taken from DVD box covers, the lettering and images are so small that I couldn't identify most of the titles without actually watching them. Still, viewing these 480p excerpts will make you appreciate the upgraded picture quality offered by main feature.

Again, my one very valid complaint about SASHA GREY'S ANATOMY is that there isn't enough of her in it. Fans will have to resort to watching a bit of the thirty minute "making of" featurette (which also appears to be shot in 1080p) to extract every last minute of this hot brunette. However, I'm glad to see Vivid/Teravision greatly improve their Blu-ray discs, and I'm more than happy to pick up any of their future titles which might meet the anatomic and erotic standards of Sasha Grey herself.

After years of using young, often naïve, women for their financial gain, it's refreshing to see a lady in porn who seems determined to use the adult industry for her own ends - and that young woman is Sasha Grey. Since her arrival in porn just a few years ago, Ms. Grey has skyrocketed to the very top of the industry, and if you've ever heard Sasha interviewed, you already know what a smart cookie she is - seemingly already planning her career out, which I'm sure will eventually mean her running her own studio, ala Jenna Jameson and Tera Patrick.

But Sasha's business sense extends to her fan base as well. From the beginning she's known what adult viewers want to see, and has provided it for them. While talent like Jenna and Stormy have "just said no" to anal, gangbangs, DPs and interracial action, Sasha has done all three at this early point in her career. It is, perhaps, no surprise that she won AVN's 2008 Performer of the Year after just two years in the adult industry.

The cleverly-titled Sasha Grey's Anatomy is Sasha's latest release, and it's a solid one, although her fans may be disappointed to hear that Ms. Grey only performs in one of the movie's five sex scenes.

As you've probably suspected, there's a doctor/nurse theme to this one, with each scene taking place in a hospital room. Our first visit is to the morgue, where Dr. Sasha Grey has led one of her patients (played by Jay Lassiter), whom she plans to have sex with. Sasha tries to get him to move one of the dead bodies so they can have sex on one of the morgue slabs, but they give up trying and just decide to use one of the gurneys instead. After getting Jay nice and hard with one of her patented sloppy and wet blowjobs, Sasha takes his cock in her ass. In fact, there's no vaginal penetration at all in this scene, which ends with Jay jerking into her mouth and onto her right cheek.

Next we have blonde-haired Bobbi Eden, who we learned paid her way through medical school by moonlighting as a pornstar. She's checking on patient Cheyne Collins, who has been having some problems with premature ejaculation. Of course, Bobbi has the cure for that...although I don't know too many men that could hold out with this doll sucking hard on their cock. The only downside to Bobbi's scene is the choice of cumshot locations, as Cheyne shoots onto her feet. Foot fetishists should love it, but this kind of climax always leaves me a bit cold.

Courtney James and Marco Banderas play a young married couple where Marco is having some performance issues. Enter Dr. Dirk Sheephearder (played by Jerry), whose solution to Marco's erectile dysfunction is to start making out with Courtney right in front of him. Soon, however, Marco has joined in on the action, and viewer's are provided with a hot threesome where the guys take turns fucking Courtney, usually while sucking on the other guy's cock. This sequence concludes with a Courtney taking a pair of pop-shots into her mouth.

No good porno is complete without a lesbian scene, and we get a pretty good one in Sasha Grey's Anatomy as Asian Mia Smiles gets it on with hot redhead Jayme Langord in a session that takes place in the hospital's medical records library. All-girl fans who don't like to see toys used should love this scene, as Mia and Jayme only use their tongues and fingers to pleasure one another.

The movie wraps up with Faye Reagan (the former Faye Valentine) playing nurse to patient Chris Cannon, who has an erection problem of his own - in that he always seems to have one! Faye tells him she has the solution and promptly starts sucking on his tool. We get to watch Faye get penetrated in the standing doggy, missionary and reverse cowgirl positions, and then jerk Chris' load right into her mouth.

The movie is presented in anamorphic widescreen, as is the 30-minute behind the scenes featurette included on the DVD. Teravision has also included a nice selection of trailers (14 in all), as well as a slide show and website access (for those watching the disc on their computers).

Although I would have loved Sasha to appear in more than one sex scene (it is her movie, after all), it's hard not to like Sasha Grey's Anatomy, as it's full of sexual scenarios that fans of doctor/nurse porn should really enjoy watching.
