New Devil In Miss Jones, The

One of this fall's most highly anticipated releases, the biggest surprise watching The New Devil In Miss Jones is just how well-acted it is. Savanna Samson really impresses as Justine Jones, a woman who is sexually repressed but about to live out some of her darkest fantasies; while Jenna Jameson oozes with naughtiness as Miss Devlin, Justine's boss who just may have otherworldly origins.

The movie is, of course, a remake of the 1972 adult classic, but viewers need not be familiar with that picture to enjoy this one (although fans will note a cameo by Georgina Spelvin as a bathroom attendant at Justine's workplace). What's interesting to watch from an acting standpoint is how director Thomas has taken an actress as stunning as Savanna Samson and has her play an inhibited and somewhat "frumpy" (for lack of a better term) woman. Credit has to go to Savanna as well, for taking a role that essentially has her sans make-up or any hot-looking outfits for the majority of the movie.

Since the character of Justine is going through a depressing period in her life, the viewer is subjected to seeing what she sees - never quite knowing if the events are happening or just in Justine's subconscious. An explanation for all this comes at the very end of the movie, but kudos for Thomas for making sure things never get so surreal that the viewer can't follow along.

As the picture opens, Savanna's character is celebrating her birthday...alone. On the way to work, she notices a group of men standing in an abandon building. Walking over to see what they are looking at, she notices that they are all watching Vicky Vette having sex on top of a dumpster with Jeremy Steele, Damien Childs, Kris Slater and Alec Metro. This mini-gangbang of Vicky features her getting anal in a few different positions and ends with pop-shots that land on both her face and her tits.

Arriving at the office, where she works as the writer of romance novels, Savanna tries to get through the day, but is distracted by her co-workers - including a janitor (Dick Smothers, Jr.) who looks suspiciously like a guy in her neighborhood that she's rejected a number of times; and by co-workers Brooke Alexander and Tony Tedeschi, whom Savanna sees fooling around with each other outside the office, before the two move back inside for a pairing that has Brooke getting cowgirl and standing doggy from Tony.

Savanna eventually goes in to see her boss, Miss Devlin (Jenna Jameson) who scares her by moving her chair across the floor seemingly by magic. Frightened, she quickly exits the office, only to run into co-worker Nick Manning, who seduces Savanna into joining him outside by the pool where they start making out and engage in action that includes Savanna taking anal missionary and "pile driver" style. Jenna comes out at the end of the scene, and escorts Savanna back inside to the company showers, where Savanna starts to hose off while Jenna joins Rachel Rotten for a girl/girl scene out in the employee locker room. The hottest party of the Jenna/Rachel pairing is watching Ms. Jameson don a strap-on and give it to Rachel in the doggy position.

Jenna and Rachel finish up, but company employees Roxanne Hall and Angelica Sin catch Dick Smothers, Jr. playing with himself while watching Jenna and Rachel. They take Dick and tie his hands up over his head, and after Angelica sucks on his cock for a minute or two, Dick has to watch Roxanne and Angelica play with each other. The pairing between the two women includes the use of glass dildos - including Angelica taking a glass toy in her ass at the same time she has one in her pussy.

At this point in the movie, Jenna finally starts revealing to Savanna what is happening to her, and we get to see an outdoor scene between the two that takes place on a hillside with a large infinity symbol (at least, that's what I think it was supposed to be) in the background that the to girls eventually move over to and make out on.

The last scene in the movie is actually several scenes in one as Savanna find herself in the middle of a large orgy - with different groups of people playing with each other in different areas of the room. Savanna gets involved in an all-girl threesome with Jessica Jaymes and Cameron Cain, then goes to a bedroom where she gets DP'd (among other things) by studs Mario Rossi and Anthony Hardwood.

Vivid has decided to put the majority of extras on Disc Two of this 3-DVD set, but the movie disc also contains three separate commentary tracks: one from director Paul Thomas; one from Jenna Jameson; and one featuring both Savanna and Georgina Spelvin. Spanish, French, Italian and German soundtracks are also available to listen to; and the movie itself features a multiple angle option during most of the sex scenes (the accompanying icon can be turned on or off by the viewer).

Disc Two contains a 46-minute behind the scenes look at the making of the film; as well as a whopping 65-mintues worth of deleted sex footage from the movie. Also included are two trailers for the film; bloopers and outtakes; five-minutes worth of deleted acting clips; two-minutes worth of photo shoot material; and a 42-minute biography of Paul Thomas that includes some trailers for his most popular releases (including titles like Bobby Sox, Bad Wives and Fade To Black).

Also included on the second DVD are five bonus scenes taken from other Vivid releases. Viewers will get to see the Savanna/Grant Michaels scene from Be With Me; Jenna and Kobe Tai from Jenna Loves Kobe; Savanna and Joel Lawrence from Key Party; Jenna, Felecia and Bobby Vitale from Photoplay; and Savanna, Devon Michaels and Audrey Hollander from Savanna Samson Superstar.

The remaining extras on the second DVD include three slides shows (one for Savanna, one for Jenna, and one for the movie); text biographies for both Jenna and Savanna; seven trailers for other Vivid releases; and the usual kind of website, product and phone sex ads that Vivid usually includes on their titles.

In a cool addition to this release, Vivid has included the VCX release of the original Devil In Miss Jones. While the movie is pretty dated - both from a hardcore and picture quality aspect - it's fun to compare the two movies, if only to see how far the adult industry has come in the past 30 years.

Although being heavily promoted as a Jenna Jameson movie, the real star of The New Devil In Miss Jones is Savanna Samson, who may just be walking away with the Best Actress award at January's AVN Awards for her performance in this movie. Just remember you heard it here first, folks.

Wish there was more like it

Close but lacking in the devilish tone of the first one.

This film is absolutely brilliant. The production values are first class, and there is an intelligent and intriguing story. The sex scenes are varied and exciting, and the acting is of an above average standard. even though Jenna will be the main draw for many, Savanna Samson steals the show; she is just sensational - beautiful, talented and charming, she has it all and is perfectly cast as Miss Jones. I agree with Starrider: this has to be the way forward for adult entertainment!

This is one of the few adult films where the focus is as much on the sex as the storyline, plus a movie with Jenna Jameson and Savanna Samson can never be bad. The sex in this movie is very hot and nasty, and the best scene is Savanna's DP. The story is a bit all over the place and i could not really follow it, but I admit I was more into the sex scenes than the story. It would have been nice to see Jenna in at least one boy/girl scene. Jenna is great as the devil, and she truly radiates star quality on screen.

All the other girls deliver good scenes also. Sometimes the scenes are a bit dark. But it's a good movie and definitely worth seeing.

Even though I love seeing artistry in mainstream movies, I'm not a big fan of it in porn. I thought this movie might change my mind, and it really didn't. I couldn't understand what was going on through most of it, and I felt it took too long to get to the action.

I started liking the movie a lot more when Jenna finally arrived. She radiates confidence, control and attitude every second she's on the screen, which was much too little in my humble opinion. Otherwise this movie just didn't do a whole lot for me.

This production is one of few that really grabs you. Not only with the extremely hot sex and strikingly beautiful women, but with the plot itself. It's really a treat to be able to enjoy the acting performances as well as the sex scenes. I hope this is where the adult film industry is headed.
