Control 9

Smoking hot Gabriella Fox graces the cover of CONTROL 9, yet another successful gonzo effort from Robby D and Digital Playground. While she is (arguably) the sexiest girl in this Blu-ray release, her performance also happens to be the weakest, and is probably the reason why it was put off for very last. Fortunately, superior performers like Eva Angelina, Lacey Maguire and especially Kelly Divine are terrific in their respective scenes, and greatly help elevate CONTROL 9 to five-star rating status. Robby's distinct style of sustained teasing by the girls and overall tightly edited action doesn't break any new ground here, but the consistency in quality make the ninth edition of this popular series worthy of its highly esteemed predecessors.

Eva Angelina- wearing glasses and sporting a sportier rack that I last recall - commences the proceedings with a solo session on a couch, in which she is aided and assisted by a few choice dildos. In truth, masturbation scenes hold little interest for me, but Tommy Gunn enters the picture soon enough so that Eva can show off her oral expertise. The next two segments maintain the athleticism and erotic quality of Eva's opening ceremony, but without the backdoor shenanigans. Next, Memphis Monroe displays some genuine enthusiasm when she goes after Tommy Gunn on a couch. In the end, Evan does manage to jerk off onto her face, but the strained efforts on his part make this coda rather dull.

Luckily, CONTROL 9 bounces back in a big way with the penultimate vignette. Kelly Divine, looking absolutely bang-able in a yellow bikini which barely covers her bouncy ass, simply steals the show in an all-anal performance with Chris Charming. The sultry brunette simply engulfs his cock with gusto, using her mouth to juice him up and opening up her posterior in doggy, spooning, and cowgirl style positions with a little ass-to-mouth work thrown in for good measure. This is the first time I've seen Miss Divine in action, and now I have to look through her catalog titles to catch up with what I've been missing. A slender, olive-skinned beauty with sizable implants and a face which should be on magazine covers, Miss Fox looks great, but generates no chemistry with Mick Blue, who does his best to get his partner up and going. Oh, sure...I've seen sexual pairings which were far, far worse and much more boring, but I expect more when it comes to the better gonzo titles. Luckily, the previously superior work of Kelly Divine manages to make up for this distinctly anti-climatic finale.
As with all other Digital Playground Blu-rays, the picture on CONTROL 9 is excellent, exhibiting fine detail which doesn't always flatter the talent (the pimples and slight bruises on Eva's legs, as well as the surgical scars on Memphis's breasts are shown with ruthless clarity) but gives viewers a more "you are there!" experience. Colors seem to be a bit dull, but not on account of any technical flaw. Likewise, the sound is good during scenes which are properly miked, but the "5.1 surround" may be a bit much for such a straightforward sexual presentation.

Bonus features on this Blu-ray disc are the normal fare: there's a photo gallery with enough high quality, hardcore shots to make it worth viewing at least once and trailers for DP productions which impress as well as entertain. The Behind The Scenes featurette is, however, a disappointing waste of time. Less than eight minutes long, most of the footage is composed of unstable shots of furniture, walls, and carpet in which the videographer apparently forgot to turn the record button off at the end of the scene. There are some extended shots of a performer's ass, as we follow her walking throughout the house and (usually) into a shower, but much of the scenery is meaningless. I didn't expect a Ken Burns-like documentary, but I wanted more than what we get here.

My overall prediction for CONTROL 9 is that casual viewers will definitely pick it up for Gabriella Fox, but treasure is as part of their hardcore collection for Kelly Divine.

Gabriella didn't seem to happy that a facial was coming her way, but then again, she seemed largely submissive throughout the scene. I think a stronger personality would have provided a stronger end to the feature.

I've come to really like Robby D's work more and more lately, as the director seems to have less intrusion on the scene and the talent does their thing a bit more freely. Control 9 is an excellent flick, worth the price of admission and then some. Eva Angelina makes the disc, sure, but Lacey and Memphis put in some very expressive work, and Kelly's ass has to be worth some of your dollars. Solid work throughout.
