Assraelis

There has been some big press (by adult standards) for the DVD release of Assraelis, since it's apparently the first adult release that has been shot in Israel and features an all-Israeli cast. So what's the verdict? Is it any good? Well, while Assraelis is certainly watchable, I can't say it's any better or worse than most of the foreign made titles that I view during any given calendar year. It's not as glossy or well-shot as a Private or Marc Dorcel production, but it's far from amateurish, either.

The biggest problem with the Assraelis release comes in the audio department. The sound on the DVD menu is at the proper level, but when you start the movie, the audio is so low that originally I thought there was no sound at all. After cranking my speakers way up, I was finally able to hear the soundtrack. Granted, all the dialogue is in Hebrew (with English subtitles), but one still likes to hear the moans and groans of the talent during the sex. One word of caution: remember to turn your speakers back down at the end of the film before the menu pops back up...or you're likely to damage your ears! Viewers may also want to note that the audio issues also exist in the bonus material - bonus scenes, the behind the scenes featurette and trailers for upcoming Israeli Erotica releases all have the same audio issues, while the other trailers (for Tight Fit Productions titles) play at normal audio levels.

The video quality, on the other hand, is quite good for a first release. The video is presented in full-frame, and while the camera work is not always fantastic (in one scene I could see the shadows of the cameramen and even a second camera at one point), the transfer here is pretty good, and a little better than average for most adult releases.

Of course, the big question everyone wants the answer to is: how's the sex? And the answer is good, but never great. The movie consists of four sex scenes, with three additional bonus scenes that showcase three of the cast members in solo stripping/masturbation segments. All of the girls in the movie are decent-looking, although I'm not sure any of them qualify as "knockouts".

The first scene takes place at night, as two guys (Shotty G. and Amos Menoy) get in a cab and then pick up a pair of women (May Buskila and Alma Fauck). The cab is pulled over and they get into a foursome with each other outside the cab (don't ask me about the cab driver...I guess he went for a walk!). The scene consists of the guys taking turns with both of the women, including fucking them in the front seat and on the hood of the car. The action concludes with Shotty jerking onto Alma's face, and Amos shooting onto May's face. The only problem with this cumshot and the majority of the cumshots in Assraelis is that the director has chosen to show them in slow motion. After the guys have shot their loads, they ditch the girls (who are now naked) and take off in the cab. Are we sure these aren't American guys?!

In Scene Two, Amos Menoy meets Rony Pornstar on a public beach, before whisking her away to a more secluded spot for some one-on-one action. During this scene there's a group of what looks to be military officers (or some sort of training organization) working out down on the beach who notice the action and cheer toward the cameras several times during the scene. The penetration here includes reverse cowgirl, cowgirl, spoon and doggy, and the scene ends with Amos jerking onto Rony's face and chin, with some going onto her chest as well.

Scene Three was by far my favorite, and features Shelly Mimon (easily the cutest girl on the DVD) in a tool shop threesome with Ron Dankner and Amos Menroy. This scene contains the hottest action of the DVD, with Shelly getting double penetrated in several different positions by the two men. However, we also get some of the worst camerawork of the movie, as this is the scene where I could make out the shadows of those filming, and even saw the camera itself creep into at least one shot. Furthermore, there's a moment late in the action where the phone on the wall rings! To everyone's credit, one of the guys picks up the phone and makes it part of the scene. I'm not sure if the phone ringing was planned or not, but if it wasn't, the performers dealt with it well (or at least the subtitles did!).

Scene Four is the final segments, and it's actually two different scenes - one that has Rony Pornstar in a mini-gangbang on a bench out in the woods at night; and another scene with May Buskila getting fucked in another part of the woods by Ehud Sa'ado. Sadly, the longer Rony's scene goes on, the less guys are with her. She starts off with four guys, and winds up with only one, and to make things worse, there's no pop-shot for her half of the scene. May takes it from Ehud in the standing doggy, reverse cowgirl, missionary, spoon, doggy, standing scissors and standing missionary positions - all ending with a slow-motion facial pop-shot.

As mentioned above, Assraelis also contains three solo segments. The first is with May Buskila, who we get to see strip out of a khaki outfit and a red bikini underneath it. She also fingers herself a bit. The second bonus is a "tease-only" segement, with no masturbation or stripping at all - just Shelly Mimon posing and showing off her ass to the camera. The final bonus scene is the best of the lot, with Rony Pornstar on the beach doing some aggressive fingering of her pussy.

Assraelis isn't a bad title, but it's hard to understand what all the hype has been about. Other than the fact that you'll be introduced to some new performers whom you haven't seen before, it's about average as far as an all-sex foreign adult release goes. You'll probably have a decent enough time viewing it, but it's not something you're going to watch over and over again.
