Innocence Lost

INNOCENCE LOST is a well made, and imaginatively directed porn film from Puritan Video, which like Private Video has its own line of high quality hardcore magazines. However, that is where the comparison ends, because whereas most Private Videos concentrate on exotic locations with drop dead gorgeous European porn stars, Puritan (judging from this release) just concentrates on atmospheric hardcore scenes, without the artistic beauty or high budget.

As the title suggests, this movie focuses on the universal theme of good and evil, sin and purity. Not since the original DEVIL IN MISS JONES has such blasphemous imagery and satanic themes been the overriding focus of a porn film (I have yet to see all of Rob Black's infamous videos for Evil Angel, so I may be dead wrong here). Now, I am as far away from being a follower of Jerry Falwell as I imagine most porn fans are...But scenes involving horned demons fucking a church-goer in a confessional booth, and a fallen angel (with wings, no less!) screwing another innocent (as far as the story goes) on rocks of hell, and a cultish lesbian scene which looks more like an sacrificial orgy, kind of leave me cold. While directors like The Dark Bros. have also explored themes of heaven, hell and earth in their DEVIL IN MISS JONES sequels and in classics like NEW WAVE HOOKERS 2, their films had a satirical undertone, which took the edge off the otherwise deep and serious topics. However, INNOCENCE LOST takes its theme almost as serious as cancer (at least, that's was my feeling...maybe the parody and satire went completely over my head). For those who would like to keep prayer out of porn as well as school, this video may not be for you.

There are five scenes in this movie, filmed more like an anthology of cult stories, but joined together by the presence of attractive brunette Amia Moore. Although she appears throughout the movie, she shares only one scene with two guys in the aforementioned confessional booth. There is no doubt that she is a hot performer, performing anal sex and delivering blowjobs like a trooper, but I think that demon make-up could have been toned down a bit. The best scene in the film occurs at the beginning, where cover model Victoria Evans gets it on with brunette Chandra Vega in a hot lesbian scene, leading into a girl-guy-girl oral threesome with Sly Stabone (gee...I wonder where he got that name?). Their scene is filmed in a soft-focus, hazy tint, which doesn't really affect their erotic heat. While not the raunchiest encounter, it is definitely the least "ugliest," with the Claudia D' Corozon/Chandler/Barett Moore lesbian threesome coming a close second.

By far, the most disconcerting scene in the movie was Bridgette Powerz bondage-themed tryst with Chris Charming. For those who don't know, Ms. Powerz is also known as Bridgette the Midget. As diminutive as she obviously appears, she still knows how to suck a mean cock, but I could have done without all the black leather and vinyl and fetish toys surrounding them, not to mention the lake of water that surrounds them. In addition, the scene is shot in a strobing effect which just served to give me a headache. This kind of weirdness in a video would definitely challenge anything ever put out by Rob Black or Greg Dark.

With only five mediocre to okay scenes in this two-hour feature, I have reservation about giving this film a recommendation. The DVD advertises outtakes, but they come at the end of the film while the credits roll. Other than that, there really is nothing different about this Puritan release from any other hack video company, which is pretty disappointing.

Call me a wimp, but this video is just a bit too much for me. Unless you have a passing interest in the occult, or just want something a bit different in your blue movies, I would pass on this release.
