Bedlam

A hit during its initial release in the late 1990s, BEDLAM is a Wave feature starring one of the most beautiful ladies to do hardcore, namely Celeste. While it's true that a lot of her raw good looks are due to the miracles of plastic surgery (she looked completely different pre-rhinoplasty when she first appeared in porn), she simply shines in almost every one of her Vivid Video titles (released on DVD under their Wave label) which includes NYLONS, POISON, and TROUBLEMAKER and this video under review. Directed by former husband Paul Norman (who also previously shared wedding vows with another busty brunette legend, namely Tori Welles), BEDLAM takes a fairly whacky premise (that of two matresses telling each other stories about the sex action they've seen) and gets a lot of hardcore mileage out of it.

Celeste's opening scene with Mark Davis is excellent, with lots of juicy cock-sucking and athletic sex, ending with a cream facial. When it came to oral cumshots, Celeste never, ever shied away from them during her porn career. She also shines in a torrid lesbian coupling with Nikki Tyler, which suffers somewhat from the dim lighting, but has enough sapphic lust for repeated viewing. However, the dark lighting does affect an otherwise excellent Melissa Hill alley-way threesome, which is a shame because her work is often overlooked and underrated.

Video and audio quality is up to industry standards. Oftentimes, the bright, flat look of video is more pleasing to the eye in a DVD transfer than the graininess of film. This title looks a lot better than most Vivid film DVDs.

If only for the gorgeous cover shot of the spectacularly lovely Celeste, BEDLAM is worth getting.
