Victim of Poor Customer Service

By Derek 117
Oh, no...Vivid Video has done it again. It is systematically destroying the image of one of the Classic Porn Stars of the late Eighties/early Nineties: Jamie Summers. As pointed out by "Diesel" and the other customers, this DVD is incomplete, with erotic scenes cut and shortened for no apparent reason--rendering these butchered scenes totally devoid of passion or erotic quality. The Christy Canyon/Jamie Summers scene at the end is the main victim of this corporate abuse of its customers. Also shortened from the initially released videocassette is the Jamie 3-way with Mickey Ray and TT Boy.

Rumors persist that Vivid has long had unhappy people working in their editing department. Is this travesy "pay back" by unhappy employees? Or is it Vivid themselves getting even with Summers who retired abruptly in 1991?

In any case, the DVD buying public needs to voice it's anger at Vivid for charging $39 for a poorly edited version of a very good videocassette. Shame!

Victim of Vivid

This was a hot little two-part movie when it first appeared on video several years back. Now, on DVD, Vivid has taken a pretty darn good porno film and ripped it to shreds with haphazard editing the the wholesale removal of climactic [literally and figuratively speaking] sex scenes for almost no apparent reason at all.

This is unacceptable. With legends like Christy Canyon, Jamie Summers, Kym Wilde, and Danielle Rodgers, Vivid should have taken the greatest of care to transfer their classic movies to DVD. Instead, we get this inexplicable hack job which calls the integrity of their whole line-up of DVDs into serious question.

If you are thinking about buying this movie, don't.

If you received this movie as a gift, then send it back to Vivid to protest their shoddy product.

Less for More Money

I recall seeing Victim of Love on the Playboy Channel years ago and was eager to see the DVD release. Alternate angles was not the only selling point. I liked the stars in the film. Christy Canyon as brunette always thrilled me a little more than her style nowadays. Also notable were Danielle Rogers who is beyond amazing, Jamie Summers who is irresitable and Kim Wylde who we need to see more of! This is not to short-change the guys in the film. Randy Spears is always entertaining and Tim Lake does great turn as a guy torn between two women. The story had merrit. I was psyched to see what was edited out. It was nothing compared to what Vivid edited out. Picture quality seems a biut grainy at times so it is comparably as good as video but doesn't live up to the DVD standard.

The film suffers because many scenes are cut short, in fact they are chopped up to make room for the other features which are put on the DVD to sell more of Vivids products. Vivid feels it has to quaint us with it's biggest stars. Seeing how the film takes a back seat to merchandising I have to ask: Is there anyone who doesn't know hwo Janine or Chasey Lain are? Really now! The fans are up to date on who's big in the industry. You would assume Vivid thought the fans were unaware of who the stars are. If you are going to release an older film you have to not only keep it intact but add things that enhance the enjoyment of it. That's not what was done here.

Anyway, the scene with Randy Spears and Danielle Rogers is edited and we lose a bit of important information which causes Christy Canyon's character to throw out her husband. Some people may say well in an adult film the story doesn't count. Ok, how about the fact the whole ending to the film was left out. We never see the girl-girl-guy scene at the end where the trio seems to consummate their love triangle.

The alternate angle feature should have been left off this release. There are only a couple of places where they appear. They seem to be parts of the same scene-not actually filmed from an alternate angle as such, (which would make it unique), but taken out of the original sequence to be acessed as an alternate angle. This in effect shortens the scenes where they incorporated the feature. This is nearly as bad as what Playboy Channel did to some scenes when they aired this years ago.

If you want to see this film because you liked it a lot the first time you saw it you will probably be disapointed in what's missing. If you never saw it it is still worth a look for it's star power and some really erotic scenes. Kim Wylde's park scene is still as hot as I remember it-only shorter.
