No Man's Land 18

I wish more porn movies were like "No Man's Land 18". When you've got no story to speak of, you could do a lot worse than string together a series of vignettes pulled wet and dripping right out the collective fantasy pool. Porn, like pop music, isn't undone by the stereotypical; in some respects, it thrives on it. I could watch the first time lesbian encounter a hundred times and still enjoy it. You might prefer schoolgirls or women in uniform, but I'll bet that, like me, you keep coming back to them with the same enthusiasm that attracted them to you in the first place. Porn is like music in that way.

The best situation in this film is the second. In it, rock star Jade Diamond brings star-struck fan Bridgette Monroe back to her hotel room for sex. Even here, we have to make a few allowances: Jade's "hotel" room is small and sparsely furnished (rock "star" is stretching things a bit) and the girls are still sexual performers first, actresses a distant second. But it's basically right - Bridgette's gushing excitement, Jade's disinterest in anything but her fan's body - and for a scene like this, that's sufficient. It establishes a pleasant framework, anyway, within which the girls can do what they do best.

Though the scene loses focus three-quarters of the way through, those first three-quarters are very good. Once Jade shuts Bridgette up with a kiss, Bridgette is free to impress her idol in the only way she can. I think she succeeds. Girls in porn ought to give at least as good as they get, so Jade is only playing fair when, after receiving some high-quality cunnilingus, she tongue-fucks Bridgette in a most impressive and exciting way. Watching these girls go at it, you just know it feels good.

Less successful in terms of situation but just as sexually exciting is the following scene, with Roxanne Hall and Alexandra Silk, two women who look a little alike here, but who are instantly recognizable once one of them speaks, Roxanne having brought her British accent as well as her taste for American pussy to the U.S. Roxanne plays a rehab counselor and Alexandra an alcoholic client. The poolside sex between the two girls is hot, and Alexandra, like Jade, does well by her partner, though she is hampered for much of the scene by awkward positioning, coming at Roxanne from behind and underneath. Roxanne, however, takes advantage of the position to encourage Alexandra to lick her ass.

The most curious and ultimately disappointing thing about this movie is writer Martin Brimmer's failure to sing a different note with each scene. The remaining three scenes in the film are merely variations on a theme that has, for me anyway, very limited appeal. Scenes 1, 4, and 5 all depend upon the same situation: physical therapist and patient. Stephanie Swift is a wheelchair-bound traffic accident survivor and Jordan, another freeway casualty, can walk only with difficulty. The opportunity was there, even given the "story" Brimmer develops via a news report (one of his favorite devices) later in the film, to provide at least one other situation, that of nurse and patient. But Stephanie was handed the role of invalid and she IS one of the stars of the movie, so instead, after watching Jordan work around her paralysis in Scene 1, we must return to her in the final scene and watch as Bridgette tries to do the same.

None of these scenes comes close to the other two, but they each have their moments. Stephanie does her best muff-diving with Bridgette supporting herself on the arms of her wheelchair and straddling her face. Alyssa Love, in a one-sided scene, gives Jordan a reason to recover - and in an unusual twist, Jordan French kisses Alyssa after having put the beads her therapist has just pulled from her (Jordan's) ass into her mouth. The first of these three scenes is the weakest, the pairing of boxcover girls Jordan and Stephanie. Nevertheless, the scene features a brief moment of always-welcome honesty when Jordan puts the corded vibrator she was using on Stephanie into her own pussy - simply, it seems, because it looks like fun. At any rate, she looks like she's enjoying it.

If more films were like this one, "No Man's Land 18" would probably comfortably settle somewhere in the middle of the pack. Until more of them come along, however, this will remain a standout entry in lesbian fantasy porn.
