Fatal Attraction

By Spooky
Cheyenne Silver plays a divorced young woman who is looking for true romance in Delusional, a DVD from Vivid directed by Robby D., whose fame comes mostly from directing gonzo series for the studio, such as the Action Sports Sex and Watcher series. However, he shows his flare for telling a story, as Delusional is an above-average title with some fun sexual action.

The film opens by showing us a flashback of the day Cheyenne came home to find her husband (Joey Ray) boinking some hooker (Kiri) in their own home. Unlike most porn movies, where a woman coming home to this would join in on the action, we get the realistic reaction, as Cheyenne throws Joey out of the house.

In the period since her divorce, Cheyenne has discovered the wonders of online chat on the internet, and has been talking to Alex, a person who Cheyenne believes she may have a future with. We watch as Cheyenne plays with herself as she is talking on the computer with Alex...just the kind of woman we all wish was on the other end of the computer screen when we chat with an unseen friend online!

Cheyenne finally agrees to meet Alex in a bar, and she is stunned to find out that the "man of her dreams" is actually a woman (played by Ryan Conner)! But Cheyenne is willing to explore the possibility that she could have a relationship with a girl...so it's back to her place to test the lesbian waters.

At this point, everything seems wonderful for Cheyenne...but she slowly starts to discover that Alex is much more than meets the eye. Soon, it becomes apparent that Alex is not only mental unstable, but perhaps totally insane.

While the sex in Delusional isn't anything one hasn't seen in hundreds of other adult films, the story is timely and interesting enough to keep the viewer's attention. Robby D. poses some interesting ideas in this film, and it will make anyone think twice before he or she takes that online relationship to the next step.

The video and audio on this disc are above average, but the real gem is the extras, which not only feature the generous amount of bonus scenes and previews that accompany most Vivid DVDs, but also boasts a director's commentary track (the first I can recall on a Vivid disc) with Robby D., Jim Monroe and Shilar. Unlike most other commentary tracks that I have heard in the porn world, Robby actually comes off as a true film craftsman, and while he does make a sexual comment here and there about the action, he does take the time to tell how a shot was set up, what he was trying to say in his film, and even offers some further insights into different characters' backgrounds and motivations. The DVD also contains fetish, actress and angle menus, so you can jump to your favorite points of the movie with ease.

Assuming your partner won't be turned off by the lesbian action in the film, Delusional would make a solid couples movie for those looking to interest their significant other in the wonderful world of adult film. Robby D. seems poised to make the transition from gonzo film to features, and this DVD is a good sign that he could well be one of the industry's leading directors in the future.
