Playgirl: Red Hot Romance

Well, I'll give it my best shot. Having me review a Playgirl title is a bit like having me do brain surgery: why would you trust me? I mean, I love the female talent here, with Jayden James and Lexi Belle on the same disc. Ally Ann is very easy on the eyes as well, and Carmen McCarthy rarely disappoints. But should I know who these guys are? I think in all fairness they should be as much household names as the women, but there's the question as to whether or not women and non-traditional men are as interested in visual representations of sexuality as heterosexual men - in particular - certainly seem to be. I'll do my best with Red Hot Romance, but no promises.

And I tried to call in OranjeWife's help on this one, but as she really doesn't much care for men, she's no help. Now if this film had Regan Reese in it, I might be able to tempt her in. Perhaps OranjeGirlfriend will sit down and watch this one, though she only marginally prefers men more.

The opening scene starts off with a bad example. Luscious Lopez riding a bike without a helmet? Yeah, that's bad. But the cheap bikes are far worse. The Daewoo of the cycling world they seem to have going there. Yes, I am a bike nerd. Full points on cinematography for this scene, with both the set and the camera work simply outstanding. Very equitable sex, too, probably more in line with what most of us have rather than the oil drilling so frequently displayed in adult films. It's a stomach shot in the end, as would really be expected. I do wonder how well something like a facial would work in a title like this, something that male-centric.

I would have liked Carmen McCarthy's scene, and she really does look great, but the lighting is so low on the set that it makes it quite a bit more difficult to watch. The bits of skin we can see are very shadowed, too. The director almost randomly flips back and forth between this normal scene and some close-up black and white sequences. It kills the continuity. On the other hand, there is quite the mouth shot in the end. I guess that answers the question, though I do wonder how the ladies feel about that. I have one who's alright with it, though doesn't love it, and another that threatens to snowball me, so I do wonder if there really is mass appeal for facials.

Regular OranjeNation tourists know my undying love for Jayden James. Now all I need to know is whether I really should spell it James or Jaymes. But no matter. The lovely brunette gets a scene with Marco Banderas, the setting the kind of diner from the infamously bad mainstream film The Girl with Gold Boots. I would make a bunch of jokes throughout this review about that, like how Marco is eating at Eat, but no one will get them. So instead, I'll note that while the lighting is better than the last scene here, it isn't quite perfect, with still a healthy amount of shadowing. The bit where Jayden warms into a blowjob shows off this problem, as one angle is perfect, while the second, closer to the floor (which NEVER works) is so dark it makes it look like an entirely different scene. Jayden really does have a dream of a body, and the camera angles here, as well as the positions they use, show that off nicely. A bit of a body variety shot for the money shot.

At this point my computer spat out the disc. Not sure what was up with that, especially as Lexi Belle was still to perform, and such rudeness to Lexi should never be tolerated. After some coaxing, I got it to restart. And, of course, Lexi is still Lexi, the most versatile woman in all of porn. I've said it before - she can play everything from the glamourous housewife to the career woman to the college party girl to the barely legal tease. Amazing. I'd love to know what her real personality is like. In this scene she puts on quite the show, and the reverse cowgirl is not to be missed. Missionary to a gut shot in the end.

Red Hot Romance was really quite good, and could have passed as any standard feature film A good buy, especially if you have a partner who isn't quite sure of what you're getting into and wants to explore, not get a face or ass pounded. Good and reasonably wholesome fun.
