Ultimate Firsts

The idea behind Ultimate Firsts is one that, at face value, sounds quite intriguing: a collection of the first scenes done by some of the most popular stars in the adult industry. Gee, that sounds like a DVD worth owning, doesn't it? But you have to remember that this is an Adam & Eve production, meaning that this isn't Randy West or Anabolic material...this is all couples-themed viewing, and most of it isn't very fun to watch.

The DVD starts off with one of its big selling points: the first girl/girl scene with Jenna Jameson from the title Elements of Desire. But this isn't Jenna as she would perform with women later in her career...this scene is almost softcore in its execution, with a little licking, a little fingering, and not much else.

Not even Tera Patrick can save the viewer from the tameness of most of the scenes. Tera shows up in the third scene on this compilation, in a segment from Caribbean Undercover with Anthony Crane. This isn't Tera's first scene on film, but it is her first anal scene, therefore qualifying as a "first". But once again, even the anal action seems tame as this scene, and for that matter pretty much every scene, is filmed in that famous Adam & Eve style that they would refer to as passionate and erotic, but most raincoaters would define as slow and boring.

Are there any bright spots to this disc? Well, a few "first" scenes stand out above the rest. Ashton Moore teams up with Brick Majors in a coupling from Naked Truth that is fun to watch. In fact, this scene might have been a scorcher if the director had just filmed it as-is, rather than trying to add all the infamous Adam & Eve touches to the final product. Another scene that doesn't come out too poorly is Nicolette and Ian Daniels' teaming from Touch, which takes place on top of a picnic table, with Nicolette keeping her cowboy boots on for the entire show!

Oddly enough, one of the best-filmed sequences is also the most disappointing, with Taylor St. Clair showing up for her "first scene" with two other girls. However, Taylor doesn't even get involved in the action here, merely watching the other two women go at it. She does rub her pussy a few times, but it's not even enough to qualify as a masturbation segment for Taylor.

The bonus features are a bit slim as well, with the most appealing bonus being a wealth of previews for other Adam & Eve titles. There's also a few photos of some of the girls in this title, a photo gallery and a chapter selection.

Part of the trouble with a compilation of scenes from Adam & Eve films is that the scenes here have been stripped away from the stories which they were a part. For most adult compilations, this would not be a problem, but since Adam & Eve prides itself on providing solid couples viewing with stories and characters, the sex falls flat when the viewer has no idea what led up to the sexual actions being viewed. Since most couples are going to want to view a story with their sex, and most raincoaters are going to avoid this kind of adult viewing, it's hard to figure out whom exactly this DVD was intended for.
