Damnit, Janet! This film is absolutely outstanding!
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of the most influential and loved of all cult-classics 35 years after its original theatrical premiere. Itself a film version of a racy British stage show, it is, in its essence, a parody of sorts, lampooning the near-porn B-movie horror films popular during the 1950s until the 1970s, as well as a touch of the sci-fi classics that were also popular at the time. It's near graphic portrayal of things that were contemporarily held taboo, LGBT gender fluidity and deviant sexual paraphilias, was groundbreaking at the time and as such is considered by the Library of Congress to be a 'film of merit' and also '...historically, or aesthetically significant'. What does this all mean within the world of porn, besides its wonderful exposure of the sexual side of life to that 1970's audience? It is BEGGING for a porn parody.
Thankfully, Wicked has finally produced The Rocki Whore Picture Show: a Hardcore Parody, which may one day be known as one of the most groundbreaking porn parody films ever to be released. Taking a beloved classic cult film and twisting it to make it more perverted and sexualized than even its scandalous original, it succeeds on multiple levels and ultimately brings us one of the first truly wonderful porn musicals, beautifully directed by porn maestro, Brad Armstrong.
The movie opens up with a perfectly filmed sex scene catching Janet (Jessica Drake) and Brad (Rocco Reed) as they pass the time in the car during an ominous rain storm. With great audio work, we hear the thunder roll and crash, and we quickly learn when Janet gets spooked that she also gets very horny. Soon she is succulently slurping down Brad's shaft as the piano-laced classic rock soundtrack begins to filter in, excellently capturing the atmosphere of the original source material. The sex here is hot, and cramped in the seats of the vehicle, it seems much more real than normal.
Once they inevitably make their way to the legendary house in the film, we meet Vagina (Nicki Hunter) and Stiff Staff who is played BRILLIANTLY by Randy Spears. Instantly we realize the attention to detail here as the makeup and costuming is spot-on, as well as the scenery. Our loving couple make themselves at home, introducing themselves to the residents of the maniac mansion and catching a glimpse of its naughty secrets.
The film follows the themes and plot of the original film, more or less, albeit with a lot more sex. Incredible sex. This film is packed to the brim with excellent boy/girl, MFF threesomes, girl-on-girl, strap-on play, gender-bending, and a full-on explosive orgy that will have to be seen to be believed. While the sex here is amazing and is what makes it a porn parody and not just a cultural parody, there are really two other factors that stand out and make this an immediate classic: the casting and the singing.
Let's begin with the casting. Without a doubt, this is some of the best casting I have EVER seen in ANY porn film, let alone a parody film. While some studios might have been comfortable replacing Tim Curry's character with any tall lanky vaguely-British gent who had a big dick, Wicked went above and beyond and chose Mac Turner to play the effeminate, gender-floating, uber-sexual Frank N' Beans. When I say Mac Turner's performance is remarkable, it is an understatement. His voice, his demeanor, the way he walks, the way he smiles, every - single - thing is screaming Tim Curry's Dr. Frank-N-Furter. This performance, hands down, warrants Mr. Turner an industry award and is by far my favorite performance by a male actor in any porn film I have ever seen. The rest of the cast is equally brilliant, chosen perfectly, and I must say I am begging Alektra Blue to remain a redhead.
The singing, which is what really sets this film apart from all other attempts at basic parody films, is flat-out great. There are some (and forgivable) flubs in the lip-syncing but be sure, these are the ACTUAL porn stars voices, not some professional replacement singers filling in for the actors. If you have kept your hands distracted enough from the hot sex to stay through the end credits, you will see that the musical numbers were in fact sung by porn actors. The fake Meat Loaf bit is comical and enjoyable. The great large rock opera number near the end that parodies "Time Warp" is also both genius and hilarious simultaneously. I do not want to spoil the film's finale for you, but know this - this movie was kept after and cared for with love like a baby from beginning to end.
While we have seen many parody movies over the past few years, nothing comes even remotely close to the care and attention given to this film. Filling every single scene with incredible music, more guest stars than you can shake a stick at, downright shocking sex, and perfect acting, as well as the attention to detail here is mind-blowing and makes it worthy of multiple watches. The Rocki Whore Picture Show: a Hardcore Parody was made with an obvious love and admiration for the source material it draws from and is absolutely destined to become a modern classic that any true collector out there needs to get their hands on immediately. This film is an absolute home run.
