Lies: Diary Of An Escort

So I know there are some times when it's easiest to run with what you know. And in the adult industry, it's this way as well: the dramatic feature film so regularly jumps to the "escort" stereotype when they need to get something done. Such is the case here with Lies: Diary of an Escort, though it delivers nicely despite being of a hackneyed genre.

Full points to the ad for pussyeatingclub.com in this one as well, by the way. I'm used to hating the ads on everything Vivid touches, as they seem to miss their market so badly, but this is some nice work. I think they've got it down now, which is nice to see. If they tried to be more mainstream in their marketing attitude, I think they would be amazed with their success, rather than the mock "rockstar" partying motif.

Breanne Benson stars here, which is always a good thing, as I could sit around and watch her quite a bit. The makeup is a bit excessive, especially in the first scene, where her eyelashes are so long, they actually completely cover her eyes. I almost thought they were going for satire. Typical, and poor, line delivery here, and I do wonder about the set a bit, as I don't know anyone's residence, outside of a dorm room, with institutional cinder block for walls. It just feels like a soundstage. So Breanne shows off her body for some reason - not that we need an excuse, mind. Sunny is watching her undress, and then redress with something or other she purchased. I think Sunny is more interested in Breanne than her underwear. Note to Breanne, though: the fluorescent chartreuse lingerie really does nothing for you, other than make you look like the sexiest community service trash pickup person ever. Then, for no apparent reason, Sunny takes a shower. Okay, I guess, in a Skinemax kind of way. And, like every shower, there's a dildo suction-cupped to the shower glass. Wait, what? Regular OranjeNation readers will know my disdain for making a sex toy a co-star in porn, so this does little for me. Especially the solo faux-fellatio Sunny gets going. At some point absurdity takes over, you know?

Then Breanne is out to eat in her best slut-wear. Seriously, the short pink skirt with black thigh-highs, showing just a bit of skin in-between, is fantastic. My former girlfriend dressed up like that for me before. I keep trying to get her to do it again, and she's promised for some-day, so watching Breanne take it all off while wearing this doesn't make me sad. Her stripping, though, has a bit of staring at the director going on, and the video quality is not nearly what it should be in this scene. Nothing from a major studio should be grainy anymore. I love legs, and I love Breanne, but Breanne is really quite twiggy in this department. A skinny one, this. It's a slow strip, and it really lacks much heat as it's getting going. The scene itself that follows isn't heart-stopping, either, and the director is obsessed with keeping a constant close-up with periodic slow-motion sequences. Just over-directed, and the camera is so close, I don't feel like I can see what's going on. Simple mistakes kill this scene, though they don't seem much interested on either side of the camera. After a few positions, it's even a boring body cumshot, though close-up, slow-motioned, and otherwise very synthetic feeling.

Then it's an all-girl scene between Sunny and the now-reddish haired Monique Alexander. Breanne seems to have a better idea of what she's doing here, though again the camera is in far too tight. On the plus side, they wait quite a bit before the toy-fest begins. Combining toy usage with poor camera work, however, makes things really tough.

There's more, but it's just so methodical. The talent is there, and if this is the kind of action you're looking for, you'll be quite pleased with what you get. This is very couples-safe stuff as well, so Vivid is probably hitting their target market with Lies: Diary of an Escort. Maybe it's just the decade-plus that I've been doing this that I'm ready for something more, both in plot and theme, and in the quality of production work. A good effort, but no one is trying to stand out here.
