Ambition can only carry a movie so far....
Follow me here: The Cirian Sphere is an object of great power that unites the five Cirian Muses as one in order to defend the universe. The Muses use the Sphere only for good deeds. The evil Lord Zuru wants the Sphere to use for his own world dominating
plans. That sounds pretty damn cool, doesn't it? On paper, at least, it sounds cool. SHOW NO MERCY looks pretty damn cool, mostly, it's as ambitious as hell, and the women are just as hot. Too bad it's a bore. Every scene is basically the same, and the repetition
kills what could have been a very great movie. Alexis Monroe, Molly Bennett, Mischa Brooks, Miss Eva Lovia, and Annika Albrite play the Muses. It would be difficult to pick who is the hottest among this group. They kind of make you want to be a henchman for
an evil overlord just to get your ass kicked by them. The sad part is, every evil henchman they defeat gets killed by Lord Zuru. It might be worth it. Let me set the scenes for you. Lord Zuru orders his goon(s) to capture a Muse. The said goon(s) attacks the
Muse, subdues her, tortures her (mildly), fucks her, then is overpowered by the Muse who then escapes. The goon(s) is then disposed of by Lord Zuru. Formulaic? Definitely. It gets old pretty quick. The fight scenes are bad, which is to be expected, or so I
think. The lameness of the fisticuffs adds an element of camp to SHOW NO MERCY. Luckily, the fucking ranges from sufficient to good. If you get off on costumes, this is one for the spank bank. As I said earlier, the movie looks good. Of course gorgeous women
running around in skimpy latex costumes will almost always compensate for atrocious dialogue, cheap sets, and bad fight scenes. Those are some of the bad things about SHOW NO MERCY, with repletion being the worst. The good stuff works when it's onscreen. In
the first scene, there is a shot of Alexis Monroe's ass in her costume-this is the best shot in the movie for me. Monroe also gets some use out of an electric wand when she is captured by Zuru's henchmen. The worst scene is the second, with Molly Bennett and
Eric Masterson. Masterson's costume alone makes you laugh and makes it difficult to get into the groove of things. The rest of the sex scenes are good, but by the third you realize the formula and that there is no more originality to this thing. Director Barrett
Blade has some interesting shots, but gets carried away at times; I wish he had worked on the script with as much gusto. The real shame is the bonus material. We get three bonus scenes of some of the stars from different movies. SHOW NO MERCY would have been
a great effort for the inclusion of a making-of feature. This movie practically begs for one. Other than the bonus scenes, we get a promo reel for Wicked Pictures, a photo gallery, and some trailers. SHOW NO MERCY had so much potential, but blew it. It's nice
to look at, but doesn't do much as a feature film.
