Hooked enough to want to see what happened next
I give this five stars. It had a great story line and the sex scenes weren't too much. I wish there was more story though. I got hooked enough that I watched the second and third movies right after. I'd say this is good enough to rent but not own.
Best BDSM Film
Puts 50 Shades to shame. Fantastic couples BDSM film, a must see for fans of the genre.
Hot and sexually active
By delicious and appealing
Excellent romantic pleasure
New BDSM relationship between hot couple
Socially awkward girl meets very attractive dominant man. Funny, hot and sweet stories of 2 couples, one vanilla and one BDSM. Great parody!
Superlative Isn't Good Enough
The best storyline porn in the last 20 years in my opinion. The performances were well above average and the sex was sensual but hot. I would highly recommend this for those that like a plot based film that is both romantic and sexually entertaining.
Outstanding
It is outstanding! Penny pax is a good actress. It is a very good introduction to Bdsm. And can stand right beside The secretary. It is an new and fresh approaches of adult films. And it is a relieve after the stupid 50shades off annoyance. Me and my wife adored it. Penny you are a goddess. Francis and Margareta
So much talent in this movie
I was not sure if I was gonna like this one and I LOVED IT ! Jacky St James is the real deal she's so talented. Penny Pax is really a great actress and her performance are hot but also believable at the same time. A must buy if you're into light bids,
Great Movie
This is one of the hottest movies I have ever seen. Incredible story, acting, quality. Great for couples. I wish more movies were made this well.
Play it Again!
Well the title says it all. I found myself biting my hands and holding my breath in anticipation while watching this dvd. I feel like someone knows me all to well. Haha, I'm a neat control freak too. I was shocked to see exactly what I want, right before my eyes.
It seemed a little off when the first scene started right away. I questioned if I got the right movie. Watching the whole thing was way worth it. My copy has a glitch in the 15 scene. I did what customer service said and I also tried another dvd player, and now it's a skip and I can see an entire scene that I didn't get to yet! Omg! I'm going to watch this again! And again! And my boyfriend is going to wonder why I have a smile on my face when he gets home. Please make a number 2 that's more intense! :-) Don't get me wrong I love this one. I didn't want it to end!
Penny is exquisite.
Dr. Chauntelle does not use a rating system. Five stars is a default setting only.
FYI: this is going to be a review in layers, starting from most general and moving on to spoiler-riddled detail.
* * *
In this, the post-Fifty Shades of Grey world, it feels like light BDSM(ish... kinda... maybe... and definitely not!!) is everywhere... and ALL the adult novelty companies are jumping on it and more than one XXX producer has made some version of a parody of it.
Sigh.
So when I received The Submission of Emma Marx (2013) ...well, I was kinda ho-hum about checking it out.
I so was wrong.
The film's synopsis sounded interesting, but still a little bandwagony...
By all accounts, Emma Marx is a beautiful, confident, well-adjusted woman. Unfortunately when it comes to love and romance, she has found all of her previous relationships to be a bit routine and mundane. Suddenly, that is all changed by a chance encounter with a handsome and mysterious man. He introduces her to a world she had only dared to fantasize of - a world of erotic sex, role-play, and BDSM. She questions how a man can so easily strip away her inhibitions and replace them with lust and desire. How is it that he has such control over her? Why does she like it so much? Her journey of self-discovery and sexual awakening, however, may come with a price. What happens when the greatest love you've ever known you to face your greatest obstacle - yourself?
...but within the first five minutes of Emma Marx, I realized there was nothing at all cliche about this film.
First off, Penny is perfectly cast. She is absolutely believable as a graduate student studying gender in the workplace (or something like that). She has the slightly know-it-all, budding academic disdain for any notion that counters herself being in TOTAL control of her ENTIRE life down pat... and over the course of the film, all this melts in a way that is absolutely amazing.
Penny is exquisite. (so is Richie Calhoun, who plays "Mr. Frederick")
But both what this film engages and how these topics are explored is what really makesEmma Marx exceptional. Not only are authentic dimensions of BDSM play (ie negotiations beforehand, safe words, etc) engaged in a forthright manner, we also get to follow Emma through struggles with her identity and desires in a really meaningful way. Is she "normal"? And what is "normal" anyway?
The film was lovely and thought-provoking and hott. as. hell. And though Emma Marx is probably not for folks looking for hard, fully realistic BDSM, it's the perfect place for someone looking for BDSMy inspiration that's not contrived or misleading. Plus, it's not shot in a super hardcore manner - Emma Marx is more of a romance-type title. This tenor might be especially appealing for individuals just beginning to put a toe in.
