Just Vagina

I like a certain amount of decorum in language; that's probably why I teach communication classes. So I don't tend to like overly degrading language when it comes to describing women in the adult industry. But we're going to call this one Just Vagina? Really? That's the best we can do? I'd be tempted to write this entire review using only clinical terms, but I just don't think I can do it: too much thinking back to grade school health class and that poor kid who was first that year to have to say penis. Ah, memories. Fucking thanks Emily Rigby Productions for having to think of that.

Because I should really be thinking of London Keyes on the cover here, as well as the very attractive Roxy Reed and she's doing her thing with Suzanne Kelly. They're first in the film as it turns out, so away we go with them.

In the interest of full disclosure, I really hate toy play in my adult films. Far too often it becomes the focal point of the scene, and really it is an uncreative analog for male penetration. I know they're used in personal lives for women individually an in relationships, but they sort of hurt a film to me.

Really stupid to start how Emily has them bouncing their tits around like the worst of any Girls Gone Wild film. And Emily sounds a wee bit toasted as well - not claiming she is, but she just sounds out of it. The camera is all over the place in this scene, usually not centered and missing just so much. Or at least it seems. Somehow the girls have some clothes back on for them to in turn take right back off again. There's no heat and no chemistry here, as it feels like they're hamming it up for the camera. The oral positions are just so awkward that the camera an rarely get into position, and the fact that the entire scene is on a couch doesn't help. Just a very low heat opener here. Disappointing.

I guess if I had a favourite scene it would have to be the one between Abby Lane and Katie Michaels. Both ladies are more to my liking on the appearance front, and they seem quite a bit more natural together. The camera has more to capture as well, with a bed providing better angles. Still quite a bit too much toy play for me, as the teaser video in the opening displayed. Emily does another awkward opening, too, and it makes me lose interest as she is so over-controlling in what she wants to capture in these bits. The oral action here is a great deal better than anywhere else on the disc, as these two seem to have some actual chemistry together, but it's still not fantastic. And Emily also needs to keep her hands to herself. I hate the camera operator/director getting a hand only involved in the scene. It's a cardinal sin.

I suppose I should also talk about London Keyes, as the cover model seems to be a big reason for bothering with this film in the first place. Her scene is as formulaic as any of the rest, with hundreds of dollars of toys at work to produce a half hour of action. I hadn't seen much of Racquel Diamond before, and I'm liking what I'm seeing. Fantastic eyes on her. Still, this scene is so over-directed that it just doesn't feel real. The chemistry is all being ordered from behind the camera.

I'm really not sure where to start with Just Vagina. Emily Rigby really needs to get back to the drawing board here, as the gonzo lesbian porn genre needs some love, as so much of the action seems to have the male audience mindset. Yet, it's not very friendly viewing like that. Either a more consistent (and higher technical quality) approach needs to be taken to guarantee a male audience, or more of a Sweetheart Video approach needs to be adopted to appeal to a female audience. As it stands right now, it seems these films are mostly made for Emily. And I just don't think that's enough to keep an entire studio afloat.
