Daddy Issues

It's been a number of years since I really took feature films terribly seriously. I don't much bother with plots anymore. And films that let the performers more be themselves are my favourites. I like to see these actual people, ones who love what they
do for a living, ones who aren't afraid to explore. That's why I hate dudebro films, by the way. Because then everything simply happens to the female talent than them getting to perform. Sweet Sinner falls into the soft end of the feature film area, producing
flicks that would have been at home, by and large, with the 90's releases from Wicked Vivid, and VCA. Though there is significantly less pubic hair, I suppose. I'm okay with that. This one is called Father Figure, and the name already has me on edge. Several
of these studios have been making far too much of situations, and this is another attempt to push that envelope. The fourth edition of this series, it's my first exposure to it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and my expectations in check. A note on
the back, by the way. Presley Hart is apparently attracted to her literature professor. But if they would have let him proofread the back cover text, he could have told them that there was no need to capitalize his profession. I mean, honestly. And once again,
why is Sweetheart Video suddenly Sweet Sinner when the sex goes hetero? I don't get it. We open with Natalia Starr and Tommy Gunn. Tommy appears to be driving a limo, but I'm pretty sure, based on the markings, that this is actually a Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Interesting chauffeur vehicle, no? There's this flirty bit in the mirror, but there's very little they can see of each other, surely. Also, Tommy has this odd facial hair growing on his cheek. What's the deal there, Tommy? I don't get the pattern. And the
title of the scene doesn't need to be in quotes. Stop that. That's happening everywhere and I hate it. Now it appears to be far closer to dusk. Are they driving across the entirety of Orange County or something? I'm waiting to see if we get a shot from outside
the vehicle or not. Is the point that the chauffeur drives a pickup truck? That would be really different. We handle the exiting shot from beneath the truck, presumably why they picked this vehicle: the ground clearance is huge, so they can give us a good
view of her from underneath. Then Tommy gets out, goes into blurry slow motion for no apparent reason, and is then drinking coffee. That croissant seems to have upset him. Now we have a serious conversation. For Natalia it seems to be all about the piece or
two of pineapple. That facial hair is starting to really freak me out. I can't look away. Dramatic lighting here, too. Tommy really is a natural as an actor. I'm glad he's been getting some mainstream roles. He's got the it-factor for that. Also, please note
that I'm not paying terribly close attention to any of this dialogue. Now Tommy has woken up and finds Natalia crying on the bathroom floor. This chauffeur has a pretty damn good gig if you ask me. Those looked like good bed fittings, too. The crying isn't
the best acting you've seen, though she does look a bit like my cat curled up on a bathroom rug. Hopefully Natalia doesn't pee on it as well. Ah, yes, now the scene gets going. It's all a bit strangely filmed, though. Very artistic, and it's pretty well done,
though I don't feel the same way when they move to the bedroom. The fake moonlight bugs me a bit. The contrast is just too high. They put in a good effort here between the two of them, and it's filmed in a couples-friendly manner. It goes for quite some time,
too. Really, this wouldn't be a bad couples film, though it all has kind of a Cruel Intentions vibe to me. That's not a compliment. A bit less premise and I think this would be perfect for couples, honestly. Body shot in the end, as expected. Repeat that three
more times, and you have the film. It's alright, I guess, though not exactly what I'm looking for. It's a relatively friendly introductory film, and it's technical qualities are quite good for what they are (they do them well, even if I don't like all of the
choices). Worth it if you know what you're getting into. Not the hottest release this week/month/year, though.
