Rambone XXX: A Dreamzone Parody

Bonnie Rotten's coronation continues! Recently named AVN's Female Performer of the Year, the indelible ink'd star is given a role to showcase every side of her talent in Rambone XXX.

The Rambo franchise, with its dearth of female characters, is not an obvious candidate for the porn parody treatment. One of David Morrell's Rambo novels mentioned that the disciplined Rambo was largely able to keep his sexual desires in check, but it's no surprise that none of the characters in the spoof evince the same level of restraint.

Original Rambo Sly Stallone, almost to the same extent as Arnold Schwarzenegger, was as much known for his chiseled physique as he was his skills as an actor, making the casting choice of Bonnie Rotten an effective and even somewhat provocative decision. Her presence as a performer has become as much a part of her appeal as her look, but there's little doubt that her distinctive ink'd appearance was a huge element of her initial success in movies like Meet Bonnie Rotten. For Stallone, your initial impression of him was formed by his musclular build; for Bonnie, it was her tattoos (that said, I'm pretty sure Bonnie could kick ass almost as readily as Sly could). Kendall Karson, Brianna Brooks and Christy Mack (it's actually a little hard to get used to Christy as a blonde) all contribute excellent scenes, but it's Rotten's final fuckfest with Ryan McClane that defines the movie. This outdoor frolic has the rawest feel of any of the fuck scenes here. The slop of spittle that they exchange in the heat of passion verges close to the gross-out level, but it fits in with the overall no-holds-barred feel of the scene. (It's also amusing to contemplate that this is essentially a surrogate Sylvester Stallone/Richard Crenna sex scene, since Bonnie and Ryan are playing the Rambo and Colonel Trautman characters, respectively - props to the moviemakers here for having the chutzpah to make that pairing).

Some of the more high-minded interpretations of Rambone have seen it as a critique of the recent Measure B legislation. It's an intriguing parallel but certainly not essential to enjoying the movie. The plot interludes alternate between tongue-in-cheek dialogue cuts typical to parodies (Kendall Karson's playful needling of Seth Gamble is entertaining) to scenes with more edge (Bonnie's arrest and strip by the overzealous sheriff).

The flow of the sex scenes builds in a way that mirrors the "up-the-ante" mounting intensity of action movie setpieces. Given how effective the non-lampooning elements of the movie are, one almost wishes that director Jordan Septo had a bigger budget and freer rein to satirize Rambo in a slightly more serious way. No matter. The Rambone we have is an equally entertaining hardcore action experience - great sex interspersed with a plot that has enough appeal to encourage repeat viewings.

Not a lot of Bonnie, and virtually no plot. I was kind of hoping that there would be some type of original Rambo thing where she gets arrested, thrown in jail, sprayed with a hose, etc, nothing like that.
