Too Inconsistent
I'm a bit baffled by James Deen. He calls himself a feminist porn star-and I in no way doubt that-but I would like to know how he matches that with some of the scenes he's done. He's a bit rough here in this Sex Tapes release, but not in such a problematic way. I was looking forward to this one primarily for Chanel Preston, as she manages the beautiful/dirty combination better than anyone I can think of aside from possibly Eva Angelina. I just love watching her perform. What fascinates me the most about this film is that they use mostly static camera shots and yet do a pretty good job of not making it feel like we're missing too much of the action.
First up is Lia Lor. And a cat. The cat's in the background getting a snack and looks as disinterested in being on film as, well, a cat ever looks. I do like that James puts the camera down before getting too grabby. It's always annoying when a hand reaches out from behind a camera, screwing up the shot in the process. We go and find the cat again, and there's also another female in the house who stays mostly out of the shot. I'd love a few words from her on all of this. Lia is carrying the camera around, and it's really quite shaky. With this expensive of a house, please, please buy a camera stabilizer! Now we're in a poorly lit editing bay. I don't really know why. Admittedly, I'm also watching Top Gear while watching this and writing a review. Now Lia's trying to make saliva bubbles. No, that's not gross at all. Please stop. Please, please stop. You're behaving like a boy in third grade. Now we're chasing the cat around again. You know, if you didn't want to do a porn scene right now, you could have just said so. We could come back later. Now they're having a conversation on the couch. And the cat came back again. So let's have more of a conversation. We are 20 minutes into the film at this point. Maybe I'll go make lunch. Ah, now they're going at it. But the camera's angle is poor, and James is being weird, pushing Lia's nose up like a pig while fingering her. This film is greatly irritating me now. I'm skipping the rest of this one. I do like the way Karmen Karma comes into through the front door. She's only one step in and rips her top off. Great entrance. At least we don't spend the length of a sitcom having a conversation. Nope, instead Karmen is choking on cock pretty much straight away. And he fucks her for a bit, then makes her gag some more. All the while we're halfway across the hallway watching. He's actually getting too aggressive here, too, just making it hard to see anything. The whole scene is shot from here, in fact. The only time he makes any space between them is to make sure we can see a bit of the facial.
Kendall White goes third, and she's way too overdone. Too much makeup, the gum, I'm just waiting for her to spend the whole scene taking selfies. No like. Kacey Lane opens her scene literally taking selfies. Ugh. Maybe I'm getting old. Also, the lighting is poor in this one. Even Chanel is on the phone to start her scene, meanwhile the camera seemingly suffering through an earthquake. James wanders away and Chanel grabs a couple of saltines. He comes back with a bottle of water, and this little bit of interaction is oddly funny to me. Especially as they're both on their phones. Might need to tell them they're going to have to interact in this one to make a porn scene. There goes the camera again, shaking all over the place. Aftershock. I guess I really would have liked a film that was easier to watch. I suppose there's something to their having fun making it.
