Not Even Helsinki

I usually have a rule: if a porn film features guns, it's going to suck. And that usually means I'm going to avoid the film. But I'll make an exception this time. Because I was told to. The thing with guns? It's because they're always a sad kind of fatalistic trope, the crutch for bad drama. And bad drama belongs on bad cable channels, not in the jarring world of putting down the guns (and terrible acting) to fuck for a bit. So when I see guns come out, I see a film with absolutely no ideas. I should also mention that it was hell trying to convince my DVD player to actually play this one. After I had to find it after moving. This film has had a hell of a trip. All in all, am I impressed but what I see? No. No I'm not. It's a film that forgot to hire a writer the characters are so obvious. James Deen is a petty criminal who for some reason that's probably plot-related decides to Remy Lacroix. She's supposed to be a trophy wife, but the role just isn't convincing to me. And, of course, there's the worn-out concept of Stockholm syndrome. Yep. And it starts out even more uncomfortably, with something that feels very much like marital the way it's shot. That's not even counting the rather annoying shadows and immaturely considered camera angles. Ah, we get it, you're shooting that shot long so we can see there's someone in the foreground. Or so we can see the production equipment in the window. And then we get an extreme closeup that looks like it's from the National Geographic Channel. The last time I watched a film with a plot starring James Deen, there was a scene that basically was a , so I'm not cutting any slack this time around. You know what this actually is? This is a Vivid film from 1998, because that's what the plot reminds me of. Just with the gritty (aka shitty) camera angles that are becoming a kind of post-modern arthouse skin-thing. I don't know if, like the damsel in distress (hey! another trope!), we're supposed to eventually defend this film rather than see it for what it is. I must not be Swedish.

Excellent!!

I have always wanted to see a movie on a person having Shockholm Syndrome and going from a hostage to their kidnapper's accomplish. Remy Lacroix is great as the housewife who is mistreated by her husband and has the opportunity to be rid of him. Love her transformation from housewife to Bonnie to James Deen's Clyde. Love both the acting and the sex scenes.
