Vista Valley P.T.A.

For those who are unfamiliar with semi-classic movies of the seventies (as well as a short-lived TV series), VISTA VALLEY P.T.A. is a spoof of the fairly popular Barbara Eden movie, which was based on a hit song. Attractive blonde Jessie St. James plays a teacher who takes on the problems in a troubled small town high school. Of course, the actors and actresses playing the high school students look more like sixth year community college twenty-somethings than teenagers, and the chaos and unruliness which occur in her classroom would hardly threaten Mr. Kotter. But this movie comes from a time in America when automatic weapons and Raiders jackets weren't as common as Pee Chee folders and Quiz Kid calculators in the public schools.

Because this is an "old" porn movie, the viewer has to be prepared for the Farrah Fawcett-hairdos and the funky clothing which plagued the Nixon-Carter-Reagan years. Also, there is not an ounce of silicone to be seen in any of these women, and bald beavers are far from being the norm. All the sex scenes are tightly edited, so those wanting leisurely extended shots of non-stop fucking shouldn't be expecting any from this movie. But like the recently released BARBARA BROADCAST and THE OPENING OF MISTY BEETHOVEN, these titles have some novelty behind them, and play like actual films (albeit, cheap, low-budget B-type films). There is a theme song to the movie which changes the notes and melody of the song "Harper Valley PTA" with just enough subtlety so as to avoid copyright problems. The remainder of the soundtrack has that "wokka-wokka-baump-baump" synthesizer and bass lines music which makes seventies porn so memorable.

The storyline involves a look at sexual suburbia, as it involves the kids and parents of Vista Valley. The sexual proceedings have a certain degree of tension and taboo element in them, since the movie after all, tries to attack hypocrisy and the two-faced values of middle America. Some of the sex scenes, for the most part, are surprisingly risqué: not because of any triple anal penetrations or implied fisting or or whatnot, but because of the titillating set-ups involving and sex. For example, Jamie Gillis plays a religious zealot who pays to watch a hooker masturbate as he sits back to relieve himself. He then tackles her while screaming about God and forgiveness, before she kicks him out of the room. He later has sex with his sexually developing daughter played by a very young Sharon Kane, who naturally is morally conflicted about his advances. Although most of the scenes are impliedly imaginary, they are effectively provocative in the context of the story, and it's incredibly disconcerting to hear Sharon moan to Jamie, "oh, daddy...I thought about your cock...what it would feel like inside of me! Fuck me daddy!" Different strokes for different folks, I guess...

Parallel stories run throughout VISTA VALLEY PTA, although they all center around Jessie's moral agenda and are united by showing extreme and certainly unorthodox sexual behavior. Juliet Anderson plays the mother to Dorothy LeMay, who made an impression in TABOO which starred Kay Parker, who is also in this film. The mother-daughter relationship becomes strained when the uptight Juliet is seduced by John Leslie (now an acclaimed director at Evil Angel), who is then seduced by Dorothy as her mother watches on. I have to admit that these scenes are pretty hot, and will certainly appeal to those who like their porn "situational" (such as the vignettes found in the BARELY LEGAL series from Hustler).

With the exception of Gillis and John Leslie, none of these names will be familiar to Generation XXX porn fan, but these were some of the most popular and acclaimed performers of the seventies and early eighties (or so I have read in the history books). Of course, watching thirty-something, thin blonde Juliet Anderson (who is nevertheless attractive) having a quickie with John Leslie may not be as visually exciting as watching a post-teen Zara Whites bounce up and down Rocco Siffredi's hard-on. However, the sex scenes in this movie work their magical heat by creating sexual tension between the characters through hot and heavy dialogue, and good old fashioned professional directing by veteran pornographer Anthony Spinelli, who is not afraid to provoke his audience with his daring sexual situations (such as when one of Jessie's student seduces his teacher in a frenzy of aggression, which is soon followed by a pseudo gangbang by some of the male citizens of Vista Valley.).

High praise must go to NuTech Digital for their simply superb transfer of this old movie. I don't know what kind of restoration process they use on these old videos, but it even exceeds the kind of work recently done to BARBARA BROADCAST by VCA. Naturally, there is a noticeable scratch here and there, but the picture otherwise looks great. Since I have not viewed this title before, I am not at all positive as to whether the DVD has any edits (like BARBARA BROADCAST did), but the movie looks fairly complete without any evidence of tampering. The extras include a slide show which seem to be actual production stills, and not just freeze frames taken form the video. The animated menu is flawless, and there are ten entertaining trailers on the other side of the disc. The only problem I have with the DVD is the packaging, which features an unattractive close-up of some guy sticking his tongue down a chick's (Kay Parker's?) throat as he gropes for her breast. I can't imagine that this was the original cover for the movie, since most seventies films were more imaginative in their ad designs. But if this is my one and only true beef with the flick, then it's hardly a valid complaint.

In an interview with the Empire, director Veronica Hart mentioned the difference between "movies with sex in them", and "sex films," and it's clear that VISTA VALLEY PTA is the former. I'm not saying that this film has the same production values of a Hollywood release, but the sex scenes are a product of the story, and not just a compilation of unrelated vignettes. I recommend this title to anyone who wants to see why the Golden Age of porn is worth preserving.

Father-daughter , mother-daughter , , gang , portrayal. This movie was a turn OFF. Prefer classic movies because there's often a plot and have actors that seem to care as much about the acting as the fucking, which was the case, but this was just horribly dated and offensive. If they were at least step-daughters or daughter's friends and sex was more consensual it would get a 4

If I had a list of top Adult films this would be in the top 5. After seeing this film, I became a fan of Anthony Spinelli. He really pushes the limits. A sexy teacher comes to town and many of the guys are checking her out once she arrives. She's sexy, but she just wants to teach. Toss in a male student that is has one goal. To take her no matter what even if he has to blackmail her. Toss in a sexy,innocent looking female student that's she, yet horny. She's so sexy her father even wants her. Kay Parker makes an appearance, but not on the level of Taboo. Then you have a slutty high school female that rounds out the bunch. You realize that the slutty one learned alot from her mom. See it for yourself.

Sharon Kane plays the sexy,innocent daughter that gives in to daddy. Here name at that time was Shirley woods. Anthony Spinelli makes a small appearance as the guy at the bar. Juliet Anderson is the mom of the slutty,but sexy high school girl. This movie is a great example why some guys just look for the classics.
