Dog Walker

By Mark Kernes
Dog Walker was John Leslie's first film under his then-new agreement with Evil Angel, and according to some on-disc biographical notes by Evil Angel head John Stagliano, Leslie had shopped the script to at least one other studio that found it too strange to consider.

Dog Walker is the story of Tito (Steven St. Croix), a small-time gangster who's too independent for his bosses (Jon Dough, John Leslie, Jamie Gillis), and in a story that plays fast and loose with time sequence and reality vs. fantasy, St. Croix eventually gets killed for his trouble. Along the way, however, he meets Christina Angel, the stroller of the title, and in one of the film's best scenes, she pleasures herself while watching Isis Nile ride St. Croix in both directions. Their performances in this feature are probably the best work either actress has done- and Krysti Lynn does a damn good job too.

Production-wise, this disc is excellent, with good image quality even in the many darker sequences. In terms of extras, of most interest will be the "Sex Outtakes": Four scenes of original shooting footage that include director's instructions, crosstalk and everything else that would be cut out or overlaid in the final version, and in a sense, it's like seeing the master at work. Also present are six animated chapter buttons which also list which performers are in the scene; a fetish menu with 12 buttons for everything from tease to cumshots; an award history on the movie (it got plenty); the aforementioned Leslie bio; a trailer for the upcoming The Voyeur DVD, plus four other Leslie winners; a promo for Leslie's music CD; and about 40 less-than-optimum photos from the production, some of which are nearly unwatchable--this disc's only real failing.

A Leslie classic that belongs right out front with all his other titles.

A great DVD

Perhaps the best reason to purchase the DVD of this classic by John Leslie, is the extras were are numerous on this disc. In particular, the outtakes of Christina Angel and the "behind the scenes" shots are outstanding, and almost erotic as the film itself. The image is a little grainy, from the original film source, but overall, a very erotic and well-worth the retail price DVD.
