Paige Shagwell P.I.: Lust At Sea

Lust At Sea is a little better than the previous Paige Shagwell P.I. adventure, Undercover Lap Dancer, but considering how bad that movie was, this isn't exactly an endorsement. As was the problem with Undercover Lap Dancer, Lust At Sea is a total mess of a movie, with little attention paid to plot, script or even sex.

The movie opens with Paige making out with her partner, Joe. But we've already seen these two go at it (twice, no less) in the previous Paige adventure, so there's not much new to look at here.

The best scene of the film is the second one, as Paige interviews Kendell Jackson, a potential new employee. Paige has found out that Kendell has been arrested in the past for prostitution and tells her that she doesn't hire those types of girls...umm, yeah, right! Kendell explains that she was only a dancer and proceeds to give Paige a lap dance, which quickly turns into a lesbian tryst. The cool part of this scene (and, in fact, the only entertaining sex on the whole DVD) is when Paige shoves what looks like a cucumber deep into Kendell's pussy. Now, I suppose that it could actually be a toy that is made to look like a cucumber, but it sure looks like the real thing on film...you'll have to be the judge, should you wish to risk your hard earned money on purchasing or renting this movie.

It was after watching this lesbian coupling that I thought perhaps a little more energy was going to exist in Lust At Sea than previous Paige movies, but the film quickly deteriorates into the same quality that it's predecessor had.

One really laughable scene occurs late in the film when Lita Chase makes out on a boat with Jake Ryder. I suppose director Jim Gunn thought it would be cool to film the two having sex as the boat sailed down the river (you can see the shore moving through the windows behind the actors), but in his eagerness to film the scene, he seemed to forget that you can clearly see the film crew through the reflection in the boat's windows! So much for "suspension of disbelief".

There's a mini lesbian orgy at the conclusion of the film with Paige, Lita, Jessica Ryder and a woman named Milena (who is so rough-looking she looks like a guy!). However, everyone seems to be going through the motions...there's no enjoyment evident in their performances.

This all begs the question of why, oh why, anyone would film a sequel to Undercover Lap Dancer in the first place. A careful look at both boxes for the DVD shows that both movies have the same production date, meaning they were probably filmed back-to-back. One can only hope that Jim Gunn puts this particular Private Eye into early retirement.
