Travel Sluts

Although DVSX is a studio to watch as it matures and potentially offers some revolutionary ideas into the porn world, the initial installment of the Travel Sluts series leaves much to be desired. Created by veteran actor Steve Drake, Travel Sluts skews the lines between old fashioned Q&A laden gonzo, and, short choreographed featurette. This hybrid theory indeed does work in some cases, but not this time unfortunately. The cast is aesthetically pleasing as a whole, but the performances tend to hit "unenthused" bumps in the proverbial road to climax. While Steve has earned a spot in porn infamy for his cockmanship, this directorial attempt wasn't successful in bringing out the best of cast and crew.

The concept behind Travel Sluts is clear; the girls are sluts and they travel to various locations. Narrowing things down a bit, the first volume focuses on one particular destination - Big Bear Lake, California. It is there that sex ensues upon snowy forest floors and beside the blazing fireplaces of resort cabins. Some scenes involve ravaging taboo debauchery complete with ass-to-mouth and double-penetrations. Others take an entirely opposite turn toward a regrettably tame scenario filled only with mechanical and uninspiring screwing. Again, this feature certainly has some fine moments, but overall the production was simply not tended to with a "completeness" in concept and depiction. At the risk of sounding too "hippie", it's best said that full-circle-sex is a factor very key to a successful porn flick. In other words, the director, the performers and the sex all have to reach some point of symbiosis or things just never seem totally right when all is said and done.

A total of six sexual scenarios comprise the main content of the film. The first, and arguably the finest of the lot, is both eye-catching and libido-sparking. Dark hair and a body that makes the mouth water are just two of the memorable traits attached to the gorgeous Taylor Rain. Opening sequences offer viewers the gonzo feel as she responds to Steve's behind-the-camera queries while riding the ski lift together. A minute or two of footage then displays Taylor's abilities to snowboard while dressed to the hilt in ski apparel. It's not long before we are given the opportunity to appreciate that smoldering body out of the bulky garb and in the throes of ecstasy with not one, but two able bodied gents. Cut to the cabin, the camera captures the vividness of genuine inhibition as Taylor sucks cock while fingering her own asshole. This of course sets the tempo to an immediate upbeat standard whereby her charismatic appearance is only upstaged by the ravenous jockeying of cocks in her ass. Some pussy play leads to more anal and a magnificent double-penetration. Closing the wonderful vision, Taylor takes two massive loads in her open and willing mouth.

And then there's the rest of the movie...

To say it like that is both harsh and depressing, but I think it's a fair assessment. With so many adult film choices on the market today, the competition is fierce. Cast, crew and studios have to work collectively to make good porn, or fall to the wayside. The remainder of Travel Sluts, with one or two exceptional moments, is lackluster at best. For example, chapter two follows Lisa Marie from packing clothes for the trip to the actual embarking up a snowy hill with some guy. She services him orally against a tree before the scene abruptly cuts to the couple in a cabin. At this point he is all but off camera while she is apparently poses for still photos for the director. Now back to the action. Some cunnilingus leads to another blowjob, then reverse cowgirl bang. The sex continues through a range of usual motions, mish and doggy, but ends with full oral cumshot. The climax was great, but almost out of place considering how uninterested and mechanical her male companion performed throughout the entire indoor sequence. This was just one of many such examples of inconsistency in both theme and sexual heat. Later in the film, Taylor Lynn gives a solid anal performance, complete with sensual and sincere kissing during the act itself. But this however comes only after another staged and insincere series of standardized fuck positions. Again, there was entirely too much inconsistency throughout each chapter.

Being the first volume in what is apparently going to be a series, we can at least hope for the best. Perhaps this concept with come full circle and develop into a better product. I haven't written off DVSX as studio based on one flub; they are still new and growing company and need time to evolve. Furthermore, this studio is not unlike many others in that they employ several distinctively different directors and respective methods of direction.

The DVD does provide a fairly clean transfer, but the extra goodies are about average. The menu offers such options as; bonus footage from the film, a behind the scenes and some solo girl scenes - among the general "usuals" like play, chapters and trailers.

This film, shot at Big Bear Lake in California, leaves a lot to be desired. Although the movie's theme sounds intriguing with each scene having some outdoor action, it is extremely poorly executed. With the exception of the cover star Taylor Rain, the quality, looks, and acting abilities of the remainder of the cast is lackluster at best. Camera work and photography is below average. The first scene is the best, but the rest of the film is not worth watching. Travelers beware! Voyage away from this one.
