Barely Legal #24

Now in it's mid-twenties, BARELY LEGAL is still a dependable title to get your fair share of hot sex and young women, although with #24, it's getting to be a bit routine. Without a single recognizable performer on the box cover, it's pretty clear that Hustler Video may be resting on its laurels and counting on top sales just by virtue of its brand name alone.

The disc is divided into five segments, each with its own title and theme and set of actors. "A Toy Tale" stars very cute blonde Lisa and Jason in an attractive, but nondescript boy-girl segment. "Lunch Time Lust" features Precious who plays a checking clerk and package deliveryman Latin Lover (or some strange reason, that name seems to be especially fake) in another straightforward affair. "Knockout Blow" featuring Becca who gets it on with boxer Tommy. "Take Home Tramp" spotlights a girl-girl scene with Joey and Anna; and "Black And White Knight" stars Diamond and Craig in an interracial segment. Obviously, last names seem to be in short supply in this BARELY LEGAL outing, and indeed, I didn't recognize any of the talents here, although most of these girls are identifiable by their less than attractive tattoos and distracting piercings. (The stud on Becca's eyelid looks more painful than any clit piercing I've ever seen in mainstream adult.)

Of all the performers, only Diamond truly stands out among this mediocre crowd. An African American beauty whose sex skills are actually nothing to brag about within porn professionals, she has an aura of sexiness about her which makes her scene the most watchable, despite her rather hairy muff. Her interracial scene with Craig (who rescues her from a gang of thugs) is actually the least exciting moment of this DVD, but Diamond has that extra something which may urge fans to seek her out in other (and hopefully better) videos.

I had high hopes for the Becca/Tommy boxing affair, but was bored by the execution. Precious gives some good head, but nothing else about their desktop fuck is truly remarkable. Perhaps its only telling that most of the performers here are all generally unknown, whereas more recent editions served a generous helping of starlets like Monica Sweetheart, Bunny Luv and Jenna Haze, to name just a few superior performers. None of the women here can possibly match up to the more memorable legacies of past BARELY LEGAL volumes. Of course, fresh faces are necessary to keep the youth novelty viable, but when there is an absence of actresses who are truly dedicated to their craft, the whole affair becomes dull and hackneyed, which are descriptions I thought I would never have to use when describing a title from Hustler Video.

As for the extras, we get a fair share of trailers, studio promo material, a slide show gallery and some documentary items. However, some of the material here seems to be misplaced, in particular, the "Behind The Scenes" segment covering BARELY LEGAL #23 obviously has nothing to do with the main feature on this disc, although we do get a snippet here and there of footage from his other flicks. His interview is also edited awkwardly, interrupting his discussion and fading out before he has a chance to finish what he has to say. There is also a "Superstar Profile" covering Elana Wolf, who is definitely cute but does not appear anywhere in #24.

BARELY LEGAL still knows how to deliver the goods, but this latest edition is showing its age.
