Bowling for nookie?

By Anton Deztini
Set in an actual bowling alley, cast with a sexually zealous lot of actors, and definitely light on story/heavy on sex, Strip Bowling sounds like a winner, albeit a cheesy one at that. However, when all the cards are laid on the table, or should I say... when all the pins are swept away, this Vivid feature leaves much to be desired. Sure there are some very notable occurrences during this naughty session of a sporting duel, but in the end even the power of sexual dynamite Cheyenne Silver cannot save the game.

What this paper-thin plot entails can be summed up in three words - guys versus gals. To elaborate though, in the name of fair play to those who are still intrigued, the guys bowling team more or less runs the alley on certain nights of the week. Consequent to there collective ritual, the ladies are left at home quite regularly. Boys may be boys, but sooner or later the chicks will revolt, and alas they do within ten minutes of the film's opening sequence. Filmed with almost an amateur skill, the camera leads the girls down a sidewalk toward the alley of doom. Once inside the premises it's no surprise that the fellas are pissed. Quickly they realize these ladies mean business, yet clearly need more than a strike to quench their underlying desire. Okay, there is a message here. Maybe it's an unintentional one, but I get it: They want their men home for intimacy. So, if the girls can't have the men at home, they will go to them.

Scenes of bowling do work their way into the fabric of this lightweight story, between the screwing of course. In an underdeveloped sub-plot, Cheyenne's character is far more interested in the alley's owner Herschel Savage than is she in actual bowling. While her cohorts knock over pins, Cheyenne takes her fling to a back room, thereby giving one of her masterful no-hands blowjobs. The clandestine affair goes through the motions of missionary and doggy fucking, soon ending with Savage's squirt upon her body.

The good news, later to come, is that Cheyenne gives yet another performance. Not her best, but that fault comes mostly from the fact that this flick doesn't encourage "great" performances. Further into the show, Hannah Harper (playing the "dumb blonde" role) tries to hump anything and everyone, but the true highlight moments materialize closer to the film's finale. As this is a "strip"game, there comes the time when it seems everyone is a loser, or winner depending on how you look at it. Every participant loses most, if not all of their clothing. Stereotypical bowling shirts are strewn across booths, empty bottles litter the tables, and lust has taken over the atmosphere. I will say this, Vivid doesn't always equal "tame". As the camera works its way through the multitude of gyrating, pumping and masturbating bodies, one particular coupling offers a spark of hope. A boy/girl tabletop missionary anal pounding that lasts for that elusive "perfect" length of time ensues, almost making me forget how lackluster the rest of the film was. Topping that off, a graphic scene, similar to that straight out of a Diabolic or Red Light District flick, demonstrates Vivid's occasional taste for true debauchery. Here a young lady methodically slurps up a wad of man-juice that has been dispersed upon a bowling ball. Nice! The finale is two-fold, but far from stellar. Cheyenne has a go with the alley proprietor's son, he then moves on to bang Hannah. The ending is abrupt, no surprise there either.

This particular disc touts itself as having tons of bonus material. For the interactive junky I say this... yes it comes with a lot, but little of it is film related, and most is filler. On the up side though, the disc breaks down into nine titled chapters. The "positions room" option is a set of sex-specific subchapters allowing access to goodies such as pussy eating, cumshots and anal scenes. Also, and film-related, is a somewhat interesting "behind the scenes" segment, plus a limited bio section. The "bonus room" is comprised of footage from three previously released Vivid titles, but what the heck... it's more sex, so that's not so bad. Fortunately as expected, the audio is crisp and the video transfer is definitely acceptable too. The remainders are standard filler like web access and phone sex ads.

In summation, Strip Bowling earns a place only in the most diehard Cheyenne fan's library of smut, or for the hardcore bowling audience who may enjoy the novelty of a porno actually being filmed in an authentic alley. Otherwise there are plenty of Vivid titles out there, complete with interactive bells and whistles, that have more developed storylines, better acting, and even hotter sex.
