This VCA pic is actually a cleverly disguised series of staged music videos from the 50s and
60's that'll have you and your lover "Twistin' (and fuckin') the night away" for hours on end.
Kylie Ireland is just one of the many top rate adult film stars to appear in this naughty and
nostalgic look at a not-so-innocent era. Believe me, this is one XXX-rated trip down memory
lane that you don't want to miss.

Commentary: Since "Cashmere" is sort of a retro "cumming" of age skin flick, maybe they
should have named it after that 50s TV classic "Leave It To Beaver." Believe me, the title
would be appropriate. After watching it, you're definitely going to wish you could leave
something in Kylie Ireland's "beaver" - namely your cock.

Be it past or present, the sultry Ms. Ireland just has that effect on men. Watching her
"get it on" is certainly a timeless treat. And if she's nice enough to moan seductively, it's like
music to your ears. Or, in the case of "Cashmere," it's like listening to your favorite Classic
Hits (or would that be classic tits. . .or maybe clits. Take your pick.)

Fittingly, "Cashmere" plays out like a bunch of MTV videos - that is if MTV was bought
out by the Spice Network. The first vid is a 60's throwback in which Kylie gets poked by a
Fonzie wannabe (Brick Majors) outside a drive-in burger joint. Being there apparently must
make her hungry because she snacks on some dick for starters. Then, she gets "doo wop"
bopped from behind before deciding to bounce up and down on the guy's prick. Ultimately,
Kylie gets her just desserts courtesy of a little cream filling to her face. Somehow, I don't
think you'd see any of this stuff going on outside of Arnold's. Sorry Potsie!

The swinging 60s continue during the next scene when two babes and their beau show
they're dance machines - as well as sex machines. The girls do a real nice job, so I wish I
could tell you their names (I think they were Vicca & Nikita). But every female in this skin
flick wears the same B-52's style hairdo, and it makes it damn hard to tell them apart. Not
that it really matters. I was only watching for the sex. Anyway, let's return to the dance
floor where the gals do a terrific little 2-on-1 tag team tango - otherwise known as the
"Cock Suckin' Shimmy." Their male friend soon joins in on the fun with his version of the
"Tubestake Boogie." The last waltz, of course, is the "Load Shootin' Limbo," which the ladies
licked up quite enthusiastically off of a glass fish tank. This trio would win any dance
contest hands down!

The music stops momentarily, but the sex continues for the next clip (titled "Good Girls
Do") in which Kylie plays the part of a prep school student. And wait until you see what the
nuns (Jeanna Fine & Anna Malle) at this institution are prepping her for. From the way she
probes her pussy, I wouldn't be surprised if they give her an "A" in Anatomy. Apparently,
though, Kylie's teachers still think she has a lot to learn - because they show her first hand

At any rate, it's back to the merry melodies for the next scene - starring Kylie as the
lead singer of an all-girl group called Penny Lane and The Lanettes. I think you can see
where this one is heading. Yep, it's a lesbian lovefest. Nothing new to report here. There are
some nice shots of the girls manually probing each others' clits and butts. The addition of a
few front and rear dildoe dorkings (including one in which two group members take it up their
cunts simultaneously with the same sex toy) also help to make this an enjoyable ditty.

The next sexual symphony is called "Run To My Arms," but it probably should have been
called "Run To My Cock." That's because the babe in this clip wastes no time giving her man
a heartfelt hummer before taking his dick into her juke box in a number of different positions.
Her moans are actually so loud during this rockin' rendez-vous that they drown out the
background music at times. Add in the timely money shot to the chin, and this scene is
worthy of a Grammy for Best (Rod) Pop(in') Performance By A Duo Or Group.

Shayla LaVeaux's got more than just the music in her during the next scene in which she
plays a cock sucking cheerleader. Truth be told, her costume is quite appropriate. I must
admit I was cheering the entire time she was getting screwed by Colt Steele atop a diner

"Cashmere" ends on a high note with a car date sequence any parent would dread. But

As a whole, "Cashmere's" unique video inside a video/dvd concept takes a little getting
used to, but ultimately it works to perfection. The sex scenes are superb, and - believe it or
not - the original oldies soundtrack also is surprisingly good. "Cashmere" is a sexual blast
from the past that belongs on the top of everyone's hit list.

From a DVD perspective: Image quality was problem free and the sound was excellent,
showing off the music well. The DVD extras were nothing exceptional though there is some
added footage from the video version.

Intangibles: It's different, but it's quality. It won't appeal to everyone but couples should
enjoy it's fun approach.

What do you get when you put VCA's best producer
Jane Hamilton (a/k/a Veronica Hart) together with one
of the two best directors currently working in adult, Michael
Ninn? You get a very high quality adult feature, that's what.
VCA is putting out such consistently high quality,
high value DVDs that it is hard to believe VCA is in the
pornography business.

What a great fantasy on the fifties and early sixties!
Not everyone may go for it, because it's not gonzo, and
it is highly stylized. But most people are going to love
it, or at least parts of it. Kylie Ireland is wonderful as the star, Penny Lane.
The music is evocative of the era, and the
sets are too, too cool.

As to extras, this disc has the king of all DVD extras,
the full-length commentary audiotrack, featuring Michael
Ninn and Kylie Ireland.

Buy this immediately! You can't go wrong with VCA, and you can't
go anywhere but very right with Veronica Hart or Michael Ninn.

I bought this one the moment it came out, as much for the extras as for the movie itself:
It was in fact the audio commentary that interested me, and I was not disappointed.
We also get some interview clips with Ireland and Vicca/Nikita, and chapter stops (not only for the sex scenes but also for the songs!)
As soon as the movie starts, one is transfixed by the atmosphere that oozes from it:
The strange thing is, that Ninn even manages to bring special effects to this feature, which is supposed to reflect back the early 60's (complete with wool shirts and kitshy wigs worn by EVERY cast member including Ireland). If you look closely you'll notice that the band singing the rather catchy tunes during the movie (with such titles as 'Don't Tell Me') is in fact Ireland times 5! The blessings of computer technology..
Furthermore, the drive-ins and diners that constitute the film's infrastructure become surreally enhanced neon landscapes.
Into this general theme of nostalgia (enhanced by Ninn's voice itself narrating the episodes) are woven 7 scenes who are worth mentioning too:
Especially the first scene (Ireland/Brick Majors)
and the wonderful girl/girl scene (actually 4 of them ladies..) in the middle of the video are among the best Ninn has shot yet.

Of course, the whole exercise is rather empty. It is a perfect couple's pick and idela for those (like me) who love art direction and beautiful videography.. but there's ultimately not a lot to it beyond the style and sex. But you should be able to forget that once the title song kicks in..

Michael Ninn's paean to a simpler era comes across like a '50s/'60s wet dream with its neon and its pastel furniture, and it's populated by a collection of hot porn gals - Kylie Ireland, Shayla LaVeaux, Jill Kelly - who fit the look perfectly. The film's recurrent songs - one a send-up of You Don't Own Me - tie in beautifully with several themes of the times, like the rise of feminism, teen commercialism - and guys 'n' gals fucking everywhere.

Like most of Ninn's work, one watches it as much for the ambiance as for the sex, and frankly, the former outweighs the latter here, but not by much. Every time you're tempted to fast forward to some explicit action, your eye catches some beautifully composed tableau (often entirely computer-generated; even some of the neon), your finger slips off the FF button and you sit back, transfixed. This is not your basic jackoff flick, so don't expect anything plebeian. Frankly, at four A's, we think the original video reviewer underrated Cashmere, even though he did nominate it for direction, videography, editing, special effects and art direction. Those are all well deserved, and we'd add a Best Music nom as well.

The disc also features seven animated "jump to scene" buttons, an extensive commentary track with Ninn and Ireland, a photo gallery with a dozen behind-the-scenes shots, a "slow jams" section, with buttons that'll take you right to the musical numbers, interviews with the Kylie, Vicca and Nikita (plus a button to take you directly to that star's hottest scene), plus ads for VCA's Internet service and trailers for other VCA titles.

I'm not sure what video Bicker (above) was watching, but it certainly wasn't Cashmere! This disc is excellent from start to finish. A perfect blend of great music (a rarity in this genre), great art direction (also a rarity), and even greater sex. In fact, the sex so hot that it kept this jaded old porn dog cumming back for more (and I didn't once use the fast forward button!) Not only that, it's a flick that even your wife or girlfriend would love. Michael Ninn is a genius!

Take a look at the gorgeous woman on the cover of the box for "Cashmere". Enjoy It. It's the only time you will see her looking like that. Cashmere is without a doubt the strangest and the worst porno I have ever seen. The film is staged like a Mtv version of the fifties - a music video with '57 Chevy's, neon, poodle skirt, and bouffant hairdo's. If you want to see a porno star dressed up in a pink bouffant wig, dancing and singing, this disc is for you. If you want to see a porno star doing what she does best, move along to the next disc.
If you can get past the bizarre setting, you have to deal with the inexplicably poor camera work. Everything is filmed in a weird mode - slow motion, with frames dropped for a stuttering effect. In many scenes, if you watch at a 2x speed, the action will appear at normal speed. Bizzare. I can't say enough how poorly this was done. It could be argued that this was an artistic choice, but the lack of imagination in camera shots makes this highly unlikely.
Avoid this disc at all costs. The only reason to pick up this disc is to throw it farther away.
