Young Sluts, Inc. 2

Young Sluts, Inc. isn't a bad idea. Using some of the former stars (maybe not the very top) of the Barely Legal series, the new concept follows these carnal specialists in their exploits as high-priced escorts in the Miami beach area amid retro-cool architecture and sunny beaches. What's better, it's all helmed by a young female director, Kat Slater. This winning combination should make for a perfect video, but it unfortunately misses the mark in a few areas.

While the "inside story of call girls" is a motif used in adult video numerous times (and probably never done better than Andrew Blake's Secrets), this video loses its focus early on. Slater is great with establishing shots, many of them magazine-worthy images of women in great lingerie prancing about the stunning art-deco mansion or out by the pool. The story and consistency start to get muddled however. For call-girls, there is very little to indicate these girls have lives outside of the insular world of the mansion in which they screw the butlers, maids or each other. That first scene with the butler and one of the (sexier) young women actually is pretty hot. They make it on the couch in a solid white room, and she shows her appreciation by playing with his sticky nectar after he sprays her belly and chest. There's some great music here too (including on old Marlene Dietrich song, I believe). What would be better is if the music throughout the entire movie stayed consistent within scenes instead of jumping from electronica to dance to 1920s German. For such a great mood setter, music could have been handled a little more adeptly.

After more glamour shots of the house, a classically adorned maid wakes up one of the house residents with a decadent pick-me-up of chocolate, coffee, sex toys and a strap on. From there, the camera goes outside for an out-of-place slow motion sequence of two women playing on the beach. Nothing wrong here again except that it breaks the consistency of the video, and I feel a lot of viewers will want to forward through this segment after a few seconds.

Back in the mansion, in the dream screening room with black walls and thick red leather sofas, a very feisty California girl (complete with blonde pig tails and the ubiquitous belly-button tattoo) has her way with "Michael," the over-hyped artist type who has lost his enthusiasm for his work. Not that we are shown that his work has anything to do with the rest of the video, nor do we know anything about him other than he is the "address book" for the business. Again an oddity since not many "customers" seem to pass through the halls of this slick bordello. Still, his scene is a pretty hot one going into the video's only anal outing - met with even more intense, ecstatic squealing and screaming on her end.

More travelougue shots of the surrounding area (yes folks, we really did shoot this in Miami!) lead up to a sex scene with an actual client, Mr. Montgomery, played by veteran Herschel Savage. His scene is certainly one of the more stylized with lots of overhead camera shots, a white-feathered mask on the girl who is displayed on a white leather chaise for his taking and little steps into the world of bondage.

Finally, the male clients (or lack thereof) are dispatched so that their wives can be entertained with tea in the bordello. The reasons here aren't made clear but it all sets the stage for a four-girl orgy of sorts fronted by a poorly synthesized Also Sprach Zarathustra and followed by more public-domain classics. Again, about this music...

The DVD quality is good with the video being shot either on film or processed to look like film. Sound is decent with nothing jumping out as either spectacularly good or incredibly awful. As far as extras go, Hustler is still using the same previews it always does, but this time around we are treated to an interview with Luna as well as a "making of" video with director Slater. Luna is a very fresh, sexy and natural Barely Legal star and Hustler magazine feature. The video of her is short and to the point (biographical interview) with a few hardcore clips of her thrown in. She comes across extremely well, and it would be a pleasure to see her stick around in more titles from Hustler or any other high quality video line. Incidentally, I am still waiting for the day that Hustler makes sure all of its titles include a full cast list in the credits and/or bio information on each girl. They are the ones who are in front of the cameras, and I am surprised they don't always get their proper credit - particularly for fans who want to see more work by a particular favorite.

I have utter faith in Slater. Judging by the behind the scenes video, she is funny, feisty, clever and cute. Maybe she needs better themes to work with or maybe it would be fun to see more real-world antics not unlike some of the more creative female gonzo genre titles like Shane's World. In any case, even if this isn't the strongest video on the market, there is something watchable here, and I am rooting for any future projects from this team.
