Although I'm not a gonzo fan, there's been so much positive talk about Gina Lynn's Dark Side that I had to give it a spin. And, while there's less here than meets the eye, it's still a good buy for the porn fan.

On the plus side: Gina Lynn has the best "white girl booty" in porn today. She is the Nina Hartley of her era. Also, Gina is in every scene (plus a bonus that I'll talk about later), and is very energetic throughout. She seems to enjoy each scene, and is comfortable with her partners.

And, let's not forget that we get to see Gina with Lex Steele! Just the thought of his massive meat and her bubble-butt is enough to get a Texas volume "gusher" out of most fans. Another highlight is the three-way of Gina, Belladonna, and Travis Knight (Gina's real life husband who is in many of the scenes). The action in each scene is paced for maximum heat, once the fucking starts, and it will be difficult for the viewer to not shoot his load by the end.

A downer for me was a five-guy blowjob scene, with no intercourse. It could have/should have been hotter, and Gina should have fucked at least a couple of the guys.

Finally, on the plus side, this DVD continues to confirm that Jules Jordan is the best "photographer" of sex in the business today (with the possible exception of Andrew Blake, who doesn't produce much). I can't find fault with a single camera angle or position transition in any of the scenes. Which is something I alway complain about with "features".

The downside has to do with my personal taste: namely, the over-reliance on "oral" sex. The blowjobs are way too long, and there is throat-gagging and cum swapping. Again, I'm not into gonzo or "extreme" sex, so these aspects didn't appeal to me.

However, what was also missing that appeals to almost all porn fans is an anal scene for Gina. Certainly, we didn't expect it from Gina with Lex, but there were plenty of smaller dicks in this title that could have found their way up her anal cavity. Not having at least one anal pentration of Gina is the ultimate letdown, especially given the way her butt is so prominently displayed in every scene.

Yet another drawback is the two-disc packaging that contains, on the second disc, an additional scene of Gina going one-on-one with a guy, that is the weakest scene in the entire package; some pieces of scenes that were edited out of the final product, and a Behind the Scenes short. These are the type of things that could be fitted on a single disc, with a better "menu" and "speed". The fact that they are included as a second disc didn't bother me too much, but I do believe it gives the impression to the buyer that he/she is getting "more" than is actually there.

In summary: Jules Jordan deserves every award he receives for photographing the best porn scenes. The question is can he "mature" and produce story-driven features, that still contain his hard-driving, expertly shot sex scenes? Now that he's left Evil Angel Productions, in order to have "total control" over his product, we may get an answer.

Bottom line: Gina Lynn's Dark Side is a perfect, cross-over porn for the 21st Century. It has something for the extreme sex crowd as well as the visual appeal for the erotic sex folks. Buy it!
