Keepers

I have to admit, I was a little worried about Barrett Blade's newfound career as a porn director after watching his first release, House Party. Yes, the sex was okay - but it wasn't anything that really caught my eye, either. Fortunately, Blade does show a creative spark in his filming of Keepers, a title that begins and ends with one of the cutest young starlets in porn - Nautica Thorn.

Reviewing as many adult titles as I do, it takes a lot these days to get me aroused. But put Nautica in some zebra-striped stockings and have her spread her legs and rub herself for the camera, and you're off to a pretty good start. That's exactly what viewers are treated to before Nautica's first sex scene of the title - one that pairs her with Cheyne Collins. Most of the standard sexual positions are covered here, and the scene concludes with a nice pop-shot where Cheyne stands over her and jerks into her mouth and onto her face.

Next up is August, who looks nice in some black fishnets with a fishnet top and a red plaid skirt. The only unappealing thing about August is a large tattoo she seems to have gotten on her upper left arm. Other than that, she's pretty much the "total package," if you ask me. August joins Barrett Blade in this sequence, and gets doggy, missionary and reverse cowgirl, with a scene-ending facial.

About the only scene that doesn't quite work in Keepers is Scene Three, that teams Sophia with Scott Styles. This is the only scene in the title that is shot outdoors - and the scene suffers from some of the problems that one often gets with outdoor shooting...namely dark shadows being cast on the performers, making the action somewhat difficult to see.

There are also some shadow problems in the very next scene, in which blonde-haired Brooke and beefy actor Dick Tracy do it on a flight of stairs. Fortunately, director Blade has this scene well-lit enough that the shadows - while annoying - don't hamper us from getting a good view of the action.

In the next to last scene Naudia Nyce teams up with Dez on a couch for action that begins with a nice blowjob from Naudia that includes some deep throating. The pop-shot here is also one of the best in Keepers, as Dez sprays a nice load all over Naudia's face.

Given that there were only five girls listed in the cast, I was actually expecting the end credits to roll after Naudia's scene, but was pleasantly surprised to find that Nautica Thorn was given a second scene on this DVD. This time, she's dressed in some pink thigh-highs and a black bra and gets it on with Chris Cannon. We get to watch the two performers do missionary, reverse cowgirl and doggy - and the fun ends with a nice facial that drips down off Nautica's chin and onto her chest.

Keepers suffers slightly from some of the same pixelation/compression problems I witnessed on Original Sin Films' House Party release - although it's not as nearly obvious or bad this time around (indeed, it's unlikely that anyone watching on a smaller TV screen would even notice). Still, it's noticeable enough to still rank the video on this DVD as "average," and the audio is also pretty run-of-the mill for an adult title. Once again, we don't get much in the bonus department, as this DVD only offers a slide show, a cumshot selection (in addition to the standard chapter selection), and some website info.

Even though the DVD quality hits that "middle ground" when compared to other adult releases, the actual film itself is pretty good and worth taking a look at - especially if you're as in love with Nautica Thorn as I am!
