Find pornographic paradise in Michael Raven's Paradise Lost.

By Cherry Gloss
Michael Raven's version of Paradise Lost is a loose adaptation of John Milton's classic epic poem. It is a well-done Sin City Entertainment production featuring all original music (in contrast to the typical music found in porn), great acting and plenty of fun extras. The leading roles were played fabulously played by Julia Ann as Eve, Steven St. Croix as Adam, and Mr. Marcus as Faust. Playing great supporting roles were Wendy Devine, Monica Mayhem, Kristal Summers, April, Olivia Del Rio and many others. This production contains many skip forwarding and reverse motion framing creating a nightmarish mood.

The action starts out right away as the camera scans the room portraying the patrons of the upscale sleazy club named Club Paradise. This is Eve's place of employment but is actually portrayed through Adam's exaggerated perception. The girls that have clothes on (not all of them do) are dressed amazingly. Girls are dancing erotically on lit raised blocks. Another is pleasuring herself for all to see. The last notable girl in the room is laying, naked, flat on her back while people eat the strategically placed sushi covering her body. Shortly after the camera scans the room, Monica Mayhem and Wendy Devine begin performing oral sex on two separate men creating the setting of an orgy. I should also mention the great shot of Monica Mayhem in the reverse cowgirl position with the representation of Sloth sitting beside her and Cheynne Collins. The scene then ends with Adam and Eve in their bedroom.

Scene two takes the first look into Eve's mind. In a white room, on a stone, a man and women are sitting. They are covered in full body makeup to represent statues or a couple that has become cold and frigid in their relationship. As the come to life, they represent a couple finding passion again. The symbolic context of this scene is great, though I must admit; I only was able to understand it after watching the director's commentary. To me, when I first saw this scene, I saw two dirty people going at it. I couldn't take my eyes off of the makeup and the places in which it wore off.

Scene three's set-up represents Adam's anger in a more vivid way than the previous scene. It starts out with a very large, muscular cut man, dressed in some sort of metal costume sporting a claw hand. The setting is made up of industrial parts. His costume matches this. The represent subservience and he is dressed much like a slave might be in this industrial setting. After she sucks his cock, he takes her doggy style over a brick structure. The camera angles are great as are the face shots. It brings out the emotional part of this scene. The scene then ends by cutting back to Adam and Eve's apartment.

The fourth scene represents the serenity for which Eve is searching. Eve is looking to fill her desire not just simple lust. In this scene, Adam is tenderly kissing and holding a beautiful brunette. As the music changes back and forth so does the mood of the scene. It flashed back and forth between a lusty sex scene and a romantic session. This sequence ends with Eve telling Adam no. Faust comes into the scene, which is now Club Paradise, playing the Devil's advocate. The next stop in this scene is a banquet setting. Adam is across the table from Faust and two exquisitely dressed women. The beautiful women are April and Olivia Del Rio. A nicely done threesome takes place with Adam looking on.

Scene five begins with Adam apologizing to Eve as she is brushing her hair. Eve's way of dealing with her trapped feelings is by becoming self-absorbed. This takes the movie to a nice but nasty lesbian scene. As the scene continues, Eve pops up with lipstick on her face. The setting is beautiful as the girls get it on over a fur throw on a grand bed. After the lesbian fun, the move cuts to Eve with Faust. She is crying as the movie flashes images of Eve in a sexy little outfit with a chain around her neck. As Faust grabs Eve's wrist a scar is shown on it to symbolize her extreme and deep sadness. Faust points out redemption or damnation are her two choices. One more flash of this scene represents Adam and Eve's perpetual struggle for control. It takes place on a bed in the middle of the desert.

The last scene begins with Adam declaring his love to Eve. The choose redemption. This may be porn but it still has a Hollywood ending. A very erotic sex scene wraps up the movie. It ends with Adam staring at Eve as she .

Just because the feature film is over, it does not mean the fun is over. The first DVD contains scene selections, of course. It also contains director's commentary and an alternative ending. Both are a must-see. The second DVD contains many more extras. There is a photo gallery, trailers to seven other movies, DVD credits, talent bios, the making of the movie, a music video and still more.
