Jeanna Fine moves this film beyond the flaws.
This is a story of lust, desire, temptation and sibling rivalry. Produced in 1995 as a Christina Angel vehicle, Angel Baby combined the talents of actors Tony Tedeschi, Jeanna Fine, Laura Palmer and Rebecca Lord with co-directors Jane Waters and Paula Emerson, thus creating a story-driven flick with a "female" touch. The endeavor successfully reaches out to "all" types of audiences while keeping subtle "female-friendly" consistencies (unfortunately all-to-often ignored in many adult films).
Opening with a birthday party sequence, the plot is "set". Laura (Angel) has just turned nineteen. With her age comes deep-rooted desires, which her older sister, played by Jeanna Fine, adamantly attempts to extinguish. Putting myself in Angel's shoes, I see it must be difficult to curb sexual temptation - being that her older sister operates a brothel which, furthermore, Angel also happens to live within! But it's sissy's place and she makes the rules. So, no "working" for Angel.
Now that the stage has been set, the sequence of events moves directly into sexual action. Frequent client, Tony, enters the brothel with an overly-cool demeanor; puffing on a smoke, saying little and pointing to his preferred "prey" for the evening. One major problem though... he wants Angel. "She's not a working girl." Sternly big sis Jeanna informs him. With a "whatever" attitude emanating full-, Tony gathers up second-stringer Kristina West for a jaunt into the bedroom. There is no hesitation between escort and client as she supplies him a sloppy blowjob just prior to a mutually appealing 69. Next on the agenda... missionary fucking. Following the formidable fuck, Tony swirls his tongue around Kristina's tight "rosebud" as a warm-up for the lengthy and intense scene-closing doggy-style anal bang.
Next up, Alex Sanders as client number two. On this routing, Alex is teamed with Jeanna and Laura for what begins as a potential three-way. As a sideline observer, Alex is treated to a lesbian love tryst serving as a tempting appetizer for "things" to come. As it turns out, Laura's interaction is limited once Alex and Jeanna get in gear. So, the three-way more or less transforms into a duo, with all action erupting from some pretty steamy vaginal and anal fucking - climaxing with an inner-mouth pop shot.
The story jumps abruptly to the following morning. Joining Rebecca Lord in the kitchen for some coffee and nicotine, Angel confides, in the seasoned working girl, her desire to "join the ranks". The divulgence of innermost secrets opens the door to a brief but effective lesbian encounter. With unselfish fervor, the ladies enjoy reciprocal cunnilingus and all-over body appreciation. The party is destined to be "crashed" though. Immediately after Lord promises not to tell big sis, Jeanna burst into the kitchen - pissed and not afraid to express her disgust. (Jeanna Fine is an excellent portrayer of "bitch" characters... and I mean that in the most flattering manner)
Two more "working" situations make up the remaining sexual content. The fourth chapter truly captures a female-dominance effect. Here, Jeanna invites client slash photographer Nick East to snap some sexy shots. With a mature, confident and unreserved attitude seeping from her every pore, Jeanna, not unlike a magnet, attracts Nick's (and our) eyes to her amazingly hot body for the show. The photo-shoots segment leads smoothly into a perfectly choreographed 69. Without a glitch, the two engage in a brief yet solid fuck performance.
Further woman-friendly, but not nearly as exciting as prior chapters, is the "moment of truth" whereby Angel gets her way. Dressed for success and ready to blaze new trails, Angel takes on usual-customer Tony T. for a relaxed, smooth flowing encounter filled with intimate kissing and petting. Finally heated-up and prepared for the "event", the pseudo lovebirds fulfill both their wishes with acts of oral stimulation, copulation and a climactic cum-into-velvet-gloved hands.
Angel's decision is made... a prostitute's life is where it's at!
Brimming with huge potential but falling short of greatness, Angel Baby could have done without the following: very cheesy music, extremely 80's hairstyling and Christina Angel's lackluster performance. As stated earlier, this was her "vehicle", yet top billing deservedly should have been given to Jeanna Fine who always gives great "performance", both sexually and non-sexually. She (Jeanna) is too often underrated, even though she electrifies the screen, no matter how large or small the role, every time she's cast.
As for the "extras", just remember, unlike transfers of "older" mainstream movies, adult companies often provide limited innovative and/or noteworthy extra material - as is the case here.
