Porn Star Idol

An excellent idea for an adult video, Porn Star Idol brings together Platinum X co-owner Jewel DeNyle, Metro's Ron Jeremy and Jacklyn Lick to judge a number of male and female contestants for the title of "Porn Star Idol". The male and female winners get a cash prize and a six picture deal with Platinum X.

If there's a downside here, it's that with the vast number of male to female contestants (only two females entered the contest, compared to 12 males), this isn't exactly the kind of porn title you'll want to get your rocks off with. The vast majority of the first half is devoted to guys proving they can get hard and get off in front of the camera...and while Jewel and Jacklyn do add to the mix by stripping down and playing with toys, this isn't exactly "whack-off" material for the average heterosexual guy.

But don't worry, there's still some good hardcore material on this DVD. The two women who compete make for fun viewing; with the first girl - Summer Star - trying her first-ever anal experimentation with a huge dildo; and with the second girl - Taylor - actually giving Michael Stefano a blowjob and allowing him to climax on her face.

Even though watching guys get off isn't very arousing, watching them try to impress the judges proves to be entertaining. For those that think they can be a porn star, they can see how far an average guy can get when the hot lights are on you, a camera is in your face, and Ron Jeremy is eyeballing you and taking notes. While some of the guys here can't climax at all (and a few can't even get hard), a surprising number of the twelve are actually able to cum on camera...and one lucky guy gets to squirt his load on Jewel's tits; while another gets to spray a (huge) load on her back (he winds up winning the contest, by the way).

In between the action, Bisexual Britni interviews the contestants and tries to find out more about them. Some are understandably nervous and unsure of themselves, while others think they are porn's next John Holmes. Of course, once these guys have to perform, the nervous ones seems to do better than the assured ones.

It was nice to see all three judges take the contest seriously. They treat all the contestants with the utmost respect, and are blunt about telling them their chances in the adult industry. My only hope is that if this release leads to a second contest that Platinum X makes sure they have more female volunteers next time...I would have loved to have seen more fresh female faces in this contest.

The male and female winner get to join Jewel for a threesome that concludes the main presentation. This is a full-blown, professionally shot sex scene, and both winners do quite well. So well, I found myself wondering if they were "ringers" in the contest that may have been pre-selected...but even if they were, that really doesn't take away from the fun of watching this DVD.

The only area in which this release really skimps is in the bonus material - offering only a Jewel DeNyle biography, a slide show and three trailers for other Platinum X releases (Anal Expedition 2, Full Anal Access 3 and Sinful Asians 2). There had to be a ton of unseen footage from the contest - and perhaps even a rejected contestant or two...it would have been fun to see this material in the bonus section.
