Rio Carnival Orgy 2

The tribal sounds emanating from drums, the scantily clad dancers writhing as if possessed, and the Buttman scurrying on all fours, beneath the crowd, trying to capture the surreal imagery with his trusty digicam. What is this? Actually, it's a project of Brazil's Evil Angel honcho Stanley Miranda, and it's all about the rhythm and seduction of Carnival - thanks to some help by John Stagliano.

Under the Tropical Angel subhead, director Miranda offers us only his second release (outside of Brazil) on DVD. As the title would suggest, the consistent theme throughout is dedicated solely to the party atmosphere during Rio de Janeiro's celebratory annual period. No storyline, no plot, and just a brief instance of planning, Orgy 2 focuses heavily on the stimulation derived from music, dance and the inhibition of bodies in motion.

The opening sequence sets the appropriate tone with masked jesters playing simple, yet effective, percussion instruments while an enormous crowd, generally consisting of attractive people shake their booties in sync. Amongst the partiers is none other than Nacho Vidal, who of course casually carouses through a bevy of female options. All the while, direction and camera operation duties are shared by both Buttmen: Stagliano and Miranda.

The beating reverberation and group dancing continues for approximately fifteen minutes before any semblance of "sexual" activity takes place. But then again, the music and dance is the foreplay. So, in typical Buttman style, the early offerings of sex permit only a taste of what's to come - it is a tease of sorts. Quick and seamless photography snatch glimpses of light activity strewn within the sweaty procession; a lick here, a rub there. Although most of the camera work is performed from a lower position, at times we can see close-ups of faces, some familiar - some not, but all are exotic. In this lengthy segment of video, viewers will see an all-encompassing ethnic range of skin tones: black, mulatto and light. While most of the "backsides" are bountiful and bouncy, there are also a few reflecting an "average" physique. In either case, the women are all entranced with the atmosphere, and the men are equally entranced by the ladies' collective allure.

I have to say though, and this is coming from a true Evil Angel devotee, this momentum continues for entirely too long. Of course, the sexuality is mesmerizing, that is once it truly breaks loose, but this first of three total parts becomes redundant, thereby losing some of the erotic appeal initially achieved with this theme. The magnetism of such a party is undeniably exciting...at first. Yet, the band plays the same beats relentlessly unchanged. That teamed with the length of the "dancing" footage naturally encourages an encounter with attention-deficit-disorder. Again, the first fifteen or twenty minutes serves as a great imaginary escape from domestic reality, but far too much time was allotted for this party cycle.

Fortunately, turning the tide in the final minutes of the first scenario, an all-out orgy does ensue with ferocious fucking, ball draining blowjobs, face sitting, back door banging, and sensuously shot after-the-fuck kissing sequences.

Later, John and Nacho head to the Go-Go-Girl Club for some daytime fun. Once inside, we see a few new faces, but most of the patrons are made up of the same crew from the party. Here and there people entertain themselves with ass-licking and finger-fucking, but again, droning music, and now an unimaginative emcee, fill our ears and distract attention from the intermittent sexuality the occurs. For the sex that does indeed take place, it is fairly hot. The problem is...there isn't enough of it!

Technically, Rio Carnival Orgy 2 offers only a limited ensemble of options, as compared to most Evil Angel releases. Three separate settings are spread across two main chapters, which are further broken into 36 accessible subchapters. There is the popular "fetish menu", but it doesn't offer nearly as many shots as most other EA releases. The remaining choices consist of a cast list by scene, website information, filmographies and photos. Considering the source video was compromised by sweat, spilled drinks, and a generally dimly lit confinement, the transfer to DVD was as smooth as one could expect, with no editing glitches.

Ultimately, Rio Carnival Orgy 2 began with great exotic zeal, but fizzled out because of repetition overload. Hoping to catch a few glimpses of the gorgeous city itself, maybe some outdoors sex scenes, I was very disappointed in discovering there were none. Most of this production took place indoors; the surroundings became uninteresting. Stanley and John are very good at what they do, masters of the art I believe. Sometimes though, a good idea gets a bit lost in the shuffle, therefore the anticipated result isn't so hot after all. Honestly, the movie embodies much of what Evil Angel viewers expect: asses in all their glory, consensual roughness at times, and sultry ravenous butt-sex. Because these wonderful moments were scattered so thin throughout two hours of film, I think some fans may feel slighted. This flick is truly best utilized as a background element, possibly like a long music video (only with graphic sex) on a monitor during your own tropical-themed party.
