Malibu Blue

Director Bud Adams was the director of the original Babewatch title for Sin City pictures, and also did a number of sequels - so I couldn't help but notice that Malibu Blue seems like it was intended to be yet another Babewatch movie which perhaps had its title changed once it was decided to be distributed through Simon Wolf instead of one of the other adult studios.

So the good news here is that if you're a fan of chicks in bathing suits making out on the beach and similar surroundings, you should enjoy this movie. I thought it was a rather average one - not bad enough for me not to recommend it, but not outstanding enough to warrant any special mention. It's basically just a standard adult porno - worth your viewing time if you like some of the girls in the film, but not one you're going to get a lot of repeat play out of.

The story of Malibu Blue centers around a wealthy man, played by Eric Price, who is involved with foreign former Olympic swimmer (Ashley Long - who is credited here as "Ashley Blue"...so don't be confused, since this isn't the hot brunette you've seen in other movies), who wants to get a job as a lifeguard. Since Eric wants to make sure she gets a green card and is not willing to marry her, he goes along with the plan - but soon discovers himself drawn to some of the women in the local lifeguard unit...thanks to their sexy yellow swimsuits.

There's not much more to the plot than that, as the rest of the movie consists of various couplings with the characters - starting with one between Ashley and Eric that has a nice bit of anal action and a quality facial at the end.

Scene two brings us a lesbian coupling between Sondra Hall and Jordan Haze on the beach, that is a tad mild...but does contain a lot of kissing and no toy use, something lesbian fans seem to want in their scenes. In scene three, Farrah and Billy Glide are out on a boat when they get involved with each other (be sure to watch the behind the scenes segment to find out what happened to the director when this scene was shot!).

There's a nice threesome between Calli Cox, Venus and Brett Rockman that could have been even more enjoyable if all three got into the action at once - instead, while Brett is occupied with one girl, the other is usually masturbating and watching the fun instead of helping to participate in it.

My favorite scene in Malibu Blue was with Eric and cute blonde Juliana Kinkaid, who supposedly left the industry not so long ago. They go at it on top of a car (I always wonder who owns these vehicles and how worried they are something's going to get dented or scratched!) and after some doggy, reverse cowgirl and missionary screwing, Juliana is on the receiving end of one of the film's best facial shots.

The last scene in the film is another threesome - this time with Sondra, Brittney Skye and Chris Cannon - and it's an okay scene, although once again the "odd girl out" masturbates instead of getting involved in the three-way.

What sets this title apart from the other Babewatch movies you may have seen is the quality of the video and audio, which is quite good. There's also an average selection of bonus features, including a behind the scenes featurette; a photo gallery; bios of all the girls; and previews of other Simon Wolf titles. There's also a bloopers reel, which I highly recommend to anyone considering hiring Sondra Hall for their adult feature in the future (you'll see what I'm talking about after you watch the clip)!
