Cafe Flesh 2

For a directorial debut, Café Flesh 2 is an incredible movie. Antonio Passolini's vision of the post-apocalyptic future includes elements of Gregory Dark's kinky setups and the exquisitely captured visuals of a Michael Ninn film. There's a good reason for this too. Antonio worked with both legendary directors before breaking out on his own as one of VCA's exclusive directors. In addition to being Passolini's first movie, Café Flesh 2 is also one of the last big movie's VCA made before imposing their mandatory condom and non-facial cum shot policy. There's still a few condoms, but most of the scenes feature bareback action and several facials.

The movie takes place several years after the original. As a side effect of the nuclear fallout, 99% of the population (negatives) is incapable of having sex, leaving the other 1% (positives) as a source of popular entertainment. The infamous Café has since closed and Violet Chinchilla (Jeanna Fine) has made it her crusade to reopen it. The film's narrator (an odd sewer dweller) reminisces about an instance at the old Café where his favorite performer reluctantly took on a couple of mimes. Tony Tedeschi and John Decker play the two lucky white-faced performers who do a decent job of ravishing Rebecca Lord's ultra-lean frame. She services each of them at both ends, with a cock in her mouth and one in her twat. They both blow their loads at the same time, leaving Rebecca with a glazed rack and a slimy belly. To differentiate from other scenes (since this one is a flashback), it's shot with an odd digital effect which slightly alters the color palette.

Meanwhile, Violet is caught in a fantasy of her own as she dreams of an encounter in a factory. Dressed in a black latex outfit which leaves her breasts exposed, she proceeds to take on Brian Surewood. While sparks fly in the background, Jeanna does her best to compensate in the foreground by giving Brian a sweltering blowjob. Antonio uses some really well focused extreme close-ups as Jeanna rakes her teeth over Brian's mushroomed head. Eventually, Jeanna dispenses some nasty taunts and moans as Brain gives her a hard fucking. At the end, she takes an enthusiastic facial with an open mouth and her tongue hanging out.

Awake with renewed drive, Violet proceeds with her business plan. Sporting financial backing from a brain floating in bubbling green liquid, she purchases a virgin who was frozen before the nuclear war. The ditzy blonde Buffy, played by Stacy Valentine, appears to be stuck in the late 70s, complete with a Farrah Fawcett/Hedwig style hairdo. With a beautiful virgin on her hands, Violet's sure the opening night will be a success.

In another mental detour, Violet imagines what the club's first night was like for the original owner. After a short beatnik monologue, Violet introduces the first act. The stage is arranged like a swank late 50s bachelor pad with purple couches and striped wall paper. Busty platinum blonde Mustang Sally Layd (dressed in a hot red dress) sits on one of the couches as Dave Hardman (sporting a silly pompadour) and Brian Surewood surround her. After a lengthy strip tease, the three exchange a number oral favors before Dave takes her doggy style on the coffee table. He eventually plunges into her ass, while Brian gets in position to fulfill a hot and nasty DP. At the end, Sally kneels between the two hipsters while they fire their loads into her mouth. Overall, this is a very well done scene. The action is hot and nasty and the production values (including the music) all come together to create a very authentic feeling atmosphere.

Back in the new club, Violet stands around the bar with Snake (Vince Voyeur) as they question Buffy about her past experience. Violet suggest that she tries sucking Snake's namesake. Even though she's supposed to be a virgin, Stacy attacks Vince's cock with some intense hand and mouth coordination, all while maintaining some very sexy eye contact. Before long, Vince is stroking a load across Stacy's pretty face while she continues to lap and suck away at his dripping cock until it's limp. Although it's just a blow job, Stacy looks incredible and her shrewd oral talents are showcased in this great scene.

Feeling homesick for the past, Buffy lies in bed and fantasizes what it would have been like to have sex with her boyfriend, played by T.T. Boy. While the two make-out in a stylized park setting, an alien dressed as a beatnik teleports in and starts taking pictures. Once again, Stacy shows off her cock sucking talent while Boy slowly eases in and out of her mouth. Then it's on to a blistering reverse cowgirl as T.T. slams into her from below like some sort of pneumatic device gone haywire. By the time they move to a doggy position, Stacy is coated in a nice sheen of sweat making the action look much hotter. There's a few more position switches before T.T. launches a stream of jizz onto Stacy's face.

A few days before the club opens, Mookie (Raylene) and her negative boyfriend (Alec Metro) come in so she can audition. The elaborate tryout involves Mookie playing the part of a scantily clad bull fighter while Billy Glide, dressed in a half intimidating/half ridiculous bull costume, makes several passes at her. She eventually tames him and begins sucking each of his three horns. Raylene is wearing a chain between her two nipple rings which really begins to ripple as Billy slams into her. There's some conservative slow-mo shots here that really capture the motions well. From a missionary position, the bull pulls out and fires a small load across Raylene's beautiful tits. Between the costuming (especially Raylene's red matador outfit) and the other production values, this scene is really hot. There's even some thematic flamenco music that really enhances the on-screen action.

With that great blowjob in the back of his mind, Snake decides to "rescue" Buffy from the club, and start their own club. Along the way, the two stop in an industrial elevator and put on a good show for one another. Vince manages to get another A-list knob waxing before bending Stacy over and taking her from behind. After some pretty standard pounding, Stacy lies on her side while Vince slides his condom clad cock into her ass. Her pooper has no problem taking the full length of his cock at a rapid pace. In a hot little setup for the pop shot, Vince squats closely over Stacy's head while he strokes away, dribbling his load onto Stacy's face below. Violet is to get creative when Buffy and Snake leave her high and dry on opening night. In a side scene, Mookie's boyfriend is cured from his "negative" status. With this problem in their relationship solved, they want to get married. The ever creative Violet incorporates the marriage and the consummation into her opening night act. Alec and Raylene put on a great show as they screw with intense passion. Raylene's bareback ass pounding is one of the best on the disc. Alec pulls out of her ass just in time to coat her torso in strands of creamy goo, as the audience applauds the opening act.

Everything about this movie is great, and fortunately this carries through in the DVD transfer. For a shot on video production, the transfer looks incredible. Considering the amount of underexposed setups, odd lighting configurations, and vibrant color arrangements, there's hardly any pixelation. Some slight pixel blotches can be found in the background, but they're only noticeable if you're looking for them. Likewise, the audio is really exceptional. I'm usually not a big fan of music during sex scenes, but every piece of music in this movie was carefully selected and arranged so it matched the scene. Therefore, you don't get that generic porno music ambience found in most videos. The sound quality is always crisp and never muffled, which is quite a feat considering the amount of music and vocalizations during the sex scenes. While everything about this disc is nearly perfect, VCA really dropped the ball on extras. Outside of some very brief cast biographies, there's nothing...unless you count the chapter index. Granted this is an early DVD from VCA, it seems like a some more supplemental material could have been thrown in. Perhaps in the future they'll release a "special edition" with more extras. This title is certainly worthy of such treatment.

Café Flesh 2 is one of the best made features of the late 1990s. All of the scenes are hot and reap the benefits of astute attention to detail and high production values. Even the end credits are great, featuring a topless go-go dancer (May Balleen), some quirky 60's style moog music, and atomic bomb test footage playing in the background. This is one of those rare sequels that surpasses the original. And considering the original's stature as a classic, that's quite an accomplishment...especially for the efforts of a first-time director.

..though I must admit that I saw this one first.
So here it is, wunderkind director Passolini's directorial debut. It is quite a bit of a weirdly inspired (someone even called it 'Felliniesque')
surreal saga. I don't know which one's better, the classic first one (1981) or this second, totally different (far less depressing) maybe somewhat emptier release.
The art direction, set decoration, costumes etc. are an acquired taste (you might be totally turned of or love it immensely) but I love it when someone brings new ideas to the porn genre, which usually is content with repeating its formulas ad nauseam.
The screenplay is totally consistent with Passolini's weird style (in fact he, as 'Johnny Jump Up' wrote the third and fourth DMJ titles who are a class in themselves..), only his direction still lacks some class.
As I have often enough repeated, I still think his colleague Michael Ninn (with which he collaborated on 'Latex' and 'Shock') is the master of this craft..
The editing is especially weird: In the sex scenes we often cut from full-body shots to extreme-closeups that leave an very jarring (and unerotic) effect.
Passolini also somewhat overdoes his weird style in the sex scenes (check out Raylene in a decidedly strange bullfight).
The story, BTW, revolves around Jeanna Fine (as 'Violet Chinchilla') who decides to reopen the original Cafe Flesh, just as Simon Delo (in a good non-sex acting part) finds a frozen babe from the 1970's (Stacy Valentine who looks fab here). This leads to all sorts of happenings which I won't reveal here (just look at the talking brain of former MC Max Melodramatic in an aquarium and you get the idea).
All in all, not a perfect video, but one of the best of '98

reason for me to buy this VCA Title.
Dark atmosphere is great and fucking with those interesting costumes is great.
Stacy Valentine is as hot as ever.
Her scenes are worth every cent you paid for this dvd.
VCA must think about features a little bit.
A featureless dvd is nothing if u ask me.

For those who like Jeanna Fine (one of my Favorite), DP's, excellent cock-sucking and "Dark Atmosphere" (do you have in mind NWH 5?), you CAN'T miss it.
Nothing to say, ALL sex scenes are among the best (Rebecca, please, drink something!!!), audio quality is fine and picture quality is excellent.
I'm jus wondering what VCA is waiting for before upgrading the DVD features (no Multi Angle, no Prewiews, no Cast Interwiews).
