Butt Detective, The

Although it was made less than ten years ago, The Butt Detective already considered a "classic" and VCA has even released it under their classic line of titles. A few minutes into the movie, it's easy to see why the film is so highly regarded. Directed by James Avalon (who here uses the name "Mondo Tundra"), the movie has an energy about it that today's adult features just don't seem to have - and I found myself enjoying not only the sex, but the humor of this excellent movie.

Mike Horner stars as detective Harry Spader, who, when the movie opens, is throwing jelly beans on the floor of his office so he can watch his secretary (Juli Ashton) crawl around on the floor and pick them up (note to self: keep a jar of jelly beans in the office). Jon Dough arrives with a case for "The Butt Detective" - he has a picture of a girl's ass that he had sex with at a masquerade party and he wants Mike to find out who it is. After Jon leaves, Mike tells Juli about the new case, and he also gets it on with her, doing Ms. Ashton missionary and doggy style, and then taking her anally and giving her a facial.

The quest for the owner of the ass in the photograph takes Mike and Juli to a local club, where Elvis is the big rage. While Mike finds himself making out with Amber Woods and Ariana on top of the bar, Juli has been picked up by T.T. Boy (who is humorously dressed like The King himself) and taken back to his place for a threesome with Rebecca Bardoux.

Continuing his search, Mike makes his way to a porn store, where he checks out the behind of a blonde bending over and gets into a threesome with her and Nick East, who is a customer in the store. Meanwhile, in the only scene in the film that really has nothing to do with the plot, we get a lesbian threesome with Juli, Nicole Lace and Vanessa Chase in the locker room of a public pool, where Nicole and Vanessa are synchronized swimmers who have just finished practice and find Juli particularly appealing.

Still searching for clues, Mike decides to make his way over to his pal Tom Byron's house, where he watches him have sex with Vanessa Chase (whom, I assume is playing a different character than the one in the scene with Juli). Tom suggests that Mike go to a masquerade party - and when Mike and Juli arrive, they quickly find themselves in the middle of an orgy. Juli gets involved with Alex Sanders and Beverly Glen, while Mike (who doesn't sexually participate in this scene) comically tries to match up his photograph with some of the sexual participants as Jordan Lee has fun (and gets double penetrated!) with Dave Hardman and Rick Masters.

Mike finally tracks down his woman in the form of blonde Tammi Ann, but when he realizes he has cracked (pun intended!) the case, he gets so excited that he passes out. While knocked out, he has a dream about Tammi getting it on with Jon Dough, and then awakens in his office, only to find Tammi there waiting to give him a new case. Whether Mike has dreamt the whole movie or just the last scene is never revealed to the viewer, and the credits roll.

While the video and audio on this disc are top notch, there are disappointingly few extras on this DVD. There's a cast listing (although no bio material), a slide show, three previews for other Juli Ashton DVDs, and the Hall of Fame slide show narrated by Jim Holliday that has appeared on other VCA discs.

Despite the lack of bonus material, The Butt Detective is worth picking up, and should prove particularly worthwhile to viewers who enjoy a humorous story in addition to hardcore action.

Ms. Ashton completely and totally lights up this film. Mike Horner will make you laugh with his off-the-wall act and crazy faces while fucking, but Ashton will make you spew your load all over the couch. See this movie!

This is a gem. They have reissued on DVD an old video with Juli Ashton where we can see why she was such an incredible actress back then. One of the first "classic" beauties in porn who did anal in every movie, she shows here why she won our hearts. The storyline is not fantastic, but she sure gets fucked in the ass the way we like it, especially in her first scene which is the best of the movie. This is a great piece of porn nostalgia.
