Sets a sensual mood
Sensual and skillfully done, Soloerotica is a collection of "20 Single Girl Performances," just as the title states. The opening of the feature gives a quick peek at many of the girls associating a name with each. The background music throughout sets the mood as the feature takes the viewer through each performance. Some of the girls give lengthier and more complete performances than others while some are more like watching an exotic dancer. The whole feature is artistically filmed using a plethora of background settings and costumes. The way this DVD is set up, you can either watch it straight through as it is meant to be viewed, or by individual girl. This is nice because it allows you to associate a name with your favorites. Each chapter is titled as a page and does not follow the chronology of the feature. Each page allows you to choose from four girls.
The first page contains performances by Wanda Curtis, Judith Bodor, Michelle Wild and Nikita Denise. Wanda begins with a business suit on, walking through red sheer. I found it interesting that a business suit was used to associate with sexuality. This segment contains a few sensual poses as she undresses, finally to masturbate on a small wooden desk chair in front of the doorway through which she entered. The performances by Judith Bodor and Michelle Wild were nothing special in my eyes. Nikita Denise shows off her beautiful face through a camera shoot before she pleasures herself on a leopard print high-heeled fashioned chair.
The second page contains performances from Laurie Wallace, Tanya Daniels, Dru Barrymore and Michelle Michaels. Laurie Wallace and Tanya Daniels both give their performances on a grand staircase in a mansion. Although both gave excellent performances, both were very much alike. Michelle Michaels gave an amazing performance in a science laboratory. She uses a tool from the laboratory, as a dildo that I thought was great. The film flashed to aliens in jars and a man in a large specimen container. This is notably one of the best performances on this DVD.
Page three includes performances by Shayla LaVeaux, Jenna Haze, Ashton Moore and Star E. Knight. Shayla LaVeaux and Jenna Haze give their performances to much different music, appealing to the manly man in all, on a truck in a junkyard. The sum of their performances end with a quick glimpse of the two making out. Ashton Moore and Star E. Knight also have similar performances as a pair. Both begin in a retro style ruffle bikini and carry out the performance on or near a 1962 pink Cadillac convertible.
Page four includes the performances of Nicole Sheridan, Bunny Luv, Aurora Snow and Ava Vincent. Nicole Sheridan's performance ranks with Michelle Michaels'. She carries out her performance in some sort of science fiction fashioned chair as the camera flashes to an odd looking man with a captain's suit on and to another man in bondage gear and gagged playing with a joystick. Bunny Luv give a sensual performance on the steps you could only find in an industrial setting using a clear dildo while standing. Aurora Snow, dressed in red vinyl strips, gives her performance in an electric chair as it is playing on a television nearby. Ava Vincent's performance is very much like that of Bunny Luv.
Page five includes performances by Mia Smiles, Shay Sights, Niki Blond and Judit Vecsey. Mia Smiles gives a beautiful performance against a wall in what could be an office building. Shay Sights gives an artistic performance containing a lot of sensual dance in a basement around a pole continuing onto a chair. Niki Blond's performance was beautiful with great camera segments. Judit Vecsey gives her performance in a bathtub pouring a milky fluid all over herself as two girls look on occasionally making out. This is one of my favorite segments.
The DVD extras include a long in-depth behind the scenes section and interviews, plus a photo gallery. I spent the same amount of time watching these as I did the feature.
Overall, I liked this feature although many times I felt it became a bit monotonous. This would be a fun movie to use as a background at a gathering.
Solo, yes. Erotica, no.
You can say a lot about Ninn Worx's "Soloerotica." You can talk about the pretty women, the glamorous costumes, the beautiful sets, the flashy camerawork and lighting, the music that's actually timed to the edits. There's so much to talk about, in fact, that it's difficult to know where to start. So let's start instead with the one thing you just cannot say about "Soloerotica": it's got great sex.
Michael Ninn thinks a lot of himself. That's understandable if he is as self-promoted; that is, if he is "the most award-winning director in the history of XXX." Such a man can't be chained to standard conventions; such a man pioneers new territory and stakes his claim there. Such a man even gives it a name, and for Michael Ninn that name is "artcore."
I think the definition of artcore is the porn you show your girlfriend or wife in the hope she'll let you watch more of it because it really isn't as sleazy as she thought it was. But you and I know what Ninn doesn't seem to, don't we? That movies like this one are only a means to an end, and the goal is genuinely good porn. Consuming this disc on your own is like trying to masturbate with your hands tied behind your back.
The problem with artcore as practiced by Ninn Worx is one of simple misunderstanding. This film claims "20 Single Girl Performances," but that tells only half the story, the "core" part. The three directors whose work is featured in this compilation?Laurent Sky, Ethan Kane, and Ninn himself?provide the other half, the "art" portion. Art, for these guys, isn't to be found in sex but in flashy camerawork, editing, lighting, and any and all other technical effects they can dream up. Some of these girls might know how to get themselves off for the camera, but Ninn and his pals see to it that the sex never gets in the way of the technology.
A few of the girls fight their way through it, though, and come out on the other side with something resembling genuine masturbation. Nikita Denise and Laurie Wallace are two of the most successful at this. Dru Berrymore begins well, with an enticing tease by a pool, but the scene dies when she starts masturbating. Many of the girls don't do this well; their scenes consist of little more than a variety of masturbatory poses and expressions. I suppose it's pretty in its way; hot, it isn't.
The movie includes a great deal that is fetish-oriented, but only one scene of real weirdness. Michelle Michaels, in red latex and stockings, does a turn with a speculum (or some similar instrument) in a kind of laboratory where a guy wearing swim goggles is imprisoned in a glass tube. I didn't understand this much; imagine my confusion when Michelle starts playing with a jar containing an alien fetus then slides out a drawer on which is a full-grown alien encased in its own glass tube.
The speculum is the only unusual toy used in the film; only a handful of scenes include toys at all, and the crystal dildo gets the call every other time. Judit Vecsey uses a prop, however?milk. Lots of it. Standing in a bathtub full of it while off to the side a couple of other chicks make out while watching her, Judit pours bottle after bottle of the stuff over her body. Shot in slow-motion, the scene comes off more as a study in fluid dynamics than erotica. Or, if you think like Dr. Malcolm from "Jurassic Park," you might find yourself thinking, as you watch the milk rolling this way and that over and around Judit's breasts, "Now that?that's chaos." And you wouldn't be far from wrong.
Nearly two hours for fast forward
The best way to describe this is "in-between" sex. Some of the girls are pretty hot, but the masturbation is completely unbelievable.
I thought that Shayla LaVeaux was very pretty in her section. Jenna Haze was nice, too. But all-in-all, there was nothing special about any scene.
If you like Penthouse/Playboy videos (tease and nudity), and want something just a tad harder (but far from hardcore), then maybe this is worth your time.
