Neighbors

Director Michael Raven has delivered some of the best adult features of the past few years, so forgive me if my standards are more than a little high. Many of his titles, such as the action-pack Adrenaline and the period-piece Beautiful have been some of the most ambitious adult titles to date, so his latest release, Neighbors seems simple by comparison. However, if you're looking for a fun little romantic comedy sex pic that you can watch with your significant other, then you could do a lot worse than this.

Stormy (who also wrote the movie) stars as Miranda, a woman who's having a really hard time getting over her boyfriend dumping her because she wasn't adventurous enough. As if things weren't bad enough, her "crazy" stepbrother Rodney (Evan Stone) is crashing at her house, because he "kind of accidentally" started a fire at his last place. As she explains the situation to her sympathetic friend that wants to take her out (Roxanne Hall), she doesn't like to leave him alone for too long, because there's no telling what he'll do next.

Obviously, right on cue we cut to the crazy thing Evan's doing, which would be Destiny St. Claire on the living room couch. And as a point to really drive home how "crazy" Evan is, they're doing it in scuba gear. It's a hysterical scene with some other craziness, such as Evan playing "keep away" while Destiny tries to suck his cock. It's just as funny as it is arousing.

Soon enough, the neighbors in question come into play, as Stormy meets her newest neighbor, Jake (Barrett Blade), a sensitive biker/guitar fantasy man (further proof that the movie was made for women), and introduces him to the local crazies on the block. Next door to her is Juan (Voodoo, in a non-sex role), a wanna-be Latin lover and across the street Nicole Sheridan and Exotica reside, playing (big stretch) two female porn stars.

Of course, Stormy falls madly in love with Blade, but it takes her a while to realize it. First, we are treated to a dream sequence where her and her ex (Mark Wood) make up and have a passionate session in her bedroom. Filled with passionate kisses, plenty of "I Love Yous" and lengthy scenes of Mark satisfying Stormy by licking her nipples and eating her out, this is a scene that women will probably enjoy more than men. Since this scene is occurring in Stormy's mind, and her character is not very adventurous, the craziest position you'll see here is missionary.

As Stormy gets to know Blade more and more, we abruptly cut to Roxanne and her boyfriend, in the only completely gratuitous sex scene in the entire movie. Appropriately enough, this one is for the guys. Mixing it up from Stormy's romantic fantasy, this is a dirty, kinky sex romp with Roxanne slapping and scratching her partner before he gets a chance to do anything. With a sinister snarl on her face, Roxanne finishes her abuse so he can satisfy her with some nipple and anal play, before fingering her and eating her out and taking her doggystyle.

After about 15 minutes of dialogue with little humor (and an odd scene with Evan in a cow suit!), Stormy finally figures out that Blade is the man for her and they have sex. Taking her right when she walks in his house, they have an intense encounter in his kitchen. Blade masturbates her under her clothes while she grinds his cock, and she goes down on him, giving him more attention and deep throating than any other scene in the film. From there they go at it doggy style before he props her up on kitchen counter and slams her hardcore, before he shoots all over his chest.

For a comedy, the jokes are somewhat few and far between. However, the subplots involving Evan and the wacky neighbors are a blast. The movie begins and ends with very funny bits, and the sex in between should keep nearly everyone happy.

While the movie is a little uneven, the DVD is near-perfect, with great 5.1 Dolby Digital audio and a perfect picture. Extras are abundant, with behind-the-scenes footage, good interviews with the cast and crew, and a ton of silly little featurettes like "Anatomy Of A Cat Fight" and "Getting' Wet' filling the disc. A bonus Stormy scene is included as well.

It may not be perfect, but this is still a fun flick with above-average acting, good production values and an honest attempt to tell a good story. Stormy is a surprisingly good writer, with several great one-liners throughout the script, and Evan Stone (in virtually a non-sex role) once again shows his great comedic chops by playing a character that's just hysterically insane. Neighbors is a great selection for couples or women looking for a fun sex romp with some serious romance thrown in.
