Erotic Visions (Metro)

Several years ago, director Cameron Grant put out a superb shot-on-film movie, EROTIC VISIONS which is available from Adam & Eve DVD. The current James Avalon film of the same name doesn't quite have the same lush production values of the earlier movie, but it's still a hot little title which does what it can under an apparently limited budget. In fact, the whole movie seems to owe more to Andrew Blake than Cameron Grant, as we get segments of covergirl beauty Logan LaBrent looking though a television monitor as the sex scenes occur, a la NIGHT TRIPS. Be aware however, that as good as some of the sex scenes are in this title, they don't come close to comparing to Grant's EROTIC VISIONS or to anything near Blake's work.

Blonde Phoenix Ray goes straight into a cowgirl fucking scene with JT Cannon, which is captured like a music video, but has far too much cross-cutting and needless special effects which might drive you a little batty after awhile. Without any dialogue, or natural sounds from the performers, the whole vignette loses its eroticism, although the sex is done creatively, going from indoors to outside without missing a beat in the action.

Brunette Venus is absolutely gorgeous and is well-captured in her girl-girl segment with Nakita Kash (misspelled as Nikita Cash on the box cover), who unfortunately, looks less than perfect because of the camera work displaying her acne scars in lingering close-ups.. Again, their encounter is without dialogue, and while the two make for a pair of pretty pictures, this segment is a bit too routine to recommend. The overdone editing and smoke effects also negatively impact its erotic heat.

The threesome involving covergirl Logan LaBrent, Nikita Denise and Manny Trio fares much, much better, and excels just by the opening dual blowjob scene alone. Life can't get that much better for any guy when you have two sexy brunettes on your lap, sharing lusty kisses right before they go down on you! They both get screwed one at a time (obviously) and there are some good anal shots amidst the roaming camera work. It's not the best scene in the history of porn, but it's good enough to give this disc a recommendation.

Next, cutie Kaylynn shares her lust for girlie love with Flick Shagwell in another outdoor scene which gets even better when Dale DaBone interrupts the girls for a piece of the pies. By now, I was used to the jumpy visuals (which are toned down a bit in this scene), and it got easier just to sit back and watch sexy Kaylynn at work, sucking his cock straight from Flick's vagina as it bulges from her cheek. The cum-swapping kisses weren't too shabby either. Sexy little number Gauge shares a quickie with Evan Stone by a water fountain, which like most of the other scenes, seems to have been edited in tune to the movie's soundtrack (which isn't all that great to listen to on its own). The action is pounding and hard, and once again, it's truly a shame that we're to endure the music instead of the voices of the performers. Unsurprisingly, this also dilutes the Dru Barrymore one-on-one with Rage which ends the flick. A potentially great scene reduced to a merely good one.

Picture quality is just a wee bit too soft for my tastes. Whether this is due to the original videography or because of the digital transfer is anybody's guess. I will say that Metro DVDs often have a hit or miss quality about them, but you never get anything less than average. The audio is good, but the overdubbed music is not. The Behind The Scenes featurette and mini-interviews are rather entertaining, and shows viewers the easy going, breezy (but entirely professional) ways the director handles his porn shoot. We also hear Dru Barrymore moaning it up during her scenes, which if included in the final edit, would have made the main feature a lot more enjoyable. The photo gallery has a lot of pictures, but it's nothing you would look at more than once or twice.

If James Avalon had just put the restraints on his editor (credited as Sappho) and held him or her back a bit, and turned on the damn microphone while taping the sex scenes, this DVD would easily have rated a "5" on the "Film" scale. I admire his work, especially on NOTHING TO HIDE 3 and 4, but whoever had the control of the final cut of this movie could have left well-enough alone and let the straightforward visuals do the talking.
