Goin' Down Slow

VCA continues their back-catalog release of videos from the nineties with another John Leslie classic, titilatingly-titled GOIN' DOWN SLOW. Since I had already owned the original videocassette version of this movie at least twice over (magnetic tapes are highly susceptible to wear and tear, after all), it was a pleasure to see this title duplicated on DVD. Before VCA began popularizing their contract girls, there were a group of actresses who made frequent appearances in VCA videos, including Selena Steele, April West, Victoria Paris, Lauren Hall and the co-star of this video, Kathleen Gentry. While today's porn audiences may be less familiar with these women than say, Juli Ashton, Vicca or Kylie Ireland, the performers of yesteryear possessed a natural beauty and impressive talent for igniting almost any average sex scene to a level of greatness. Therefore, I applaud and appreciate VCA's continuing efforts to preserve and promote their classics onto the digital video medium.

GOIN' DOWN SLOW has been an often re-played movie in my video collection, primarily because it contains an absolutely sizzling teasing scene featuring Alicia Monet and Megan Leigh, both of whom eventually get it on with Richard Bullock. In a well-directed outdoor segment, John Leslie fools around with sexy blonde Dana Lynn in a hot tub. As Dana rides on him cowgirl style by the pool, Alicia and Megan, both looking their sexiest in skimpy, matching bikinis, watch the action as they squirm in their chairs all hot and bothered. Once John is finished with Dana, Richard invites the other girls for a very hot three-way, with some steamy deep-throating action by Alicia and Megan. Ms. Monet, in particular, has never looked more drop-dead gorgeous and smolderingly sexy than in this video. I was transfixed by those pouty, ruby red lips giving an overpowering blowjob which had me gasping for air. Megan also looks terrific when she assumes a 69 position while attempting to take his cock as far down her throat as possible. They don't make all-natural beauties like these two anymore. The only problem with this scene is that there is no money shot at the end; instead, the plot intrudes on their session and the movie continues with its moody storyline. Nevertheless, this threesome has remained one of my favorite John Leslie-directed scenes in a long list of memorable erotic moments from his highly acclaimed films.

Another sexy blonde, covergirl Kathleen Gentry, indulges the viewer in an outdoor threesome with Peter North and Tom Byron. Those who found Ms. Gentry so memorable in her starring role as THE CATWOMAN will find equal satisfaction as she goes down on Tom while getting fucked doggy-style by Peter. Tall and slender, Kathleen's slinky good looks have always made her consistently electrifying performances highly watchable. She also shares a scene with Robert Bullock early in the video, which doesn't have the same flair and eroticism as her two guy tryst, but is still highly enjoyable.

Viewers who know Shanna McCullough only from her (extreme) performances in I SWALLOW and I SWALLOW 2 (where she does some of the nastiest cum-eating that I have ever seen) will probably be disappointed from her relatively tame sex scenes in this video. One of the few redheads in porn, Shanna sticks around for only the first half of the movie before she makes a fatal exit which sets up the real storyline. However, we are treated to some pretty good oral and doggy-style shots before her character's demise, even though her sex role in this flick is .

The boxcover for GOIN' DOWN SLOW spotlights a red lingerie-clad Kathleen Jentry, flanked by director/actor John Leslie with Alicia Monet in the background. Kathleen unfortunately does not wear this same sexy outfit in the movie as she does on the packaging, but that is my only true gripe about this film. Like all Leslie "classics," the story does get a little too self-serious at times, but it does add mood to the sexual encounters.

As always, picture quality looks excellent and is a vast improvement over the original videotape release. Extras are limited to a photo gallery, and a catalog list of titles which desperately needs updating. The "Cast" selection, which allows the user to "jump to a scene" of a few selected actresses mistakenly lists Tiffany Mynx as one of the performers, and gets some of the scenes wrong as to the others (Dana Lynn's scene with Joey Silvera is listed as Megan Leigh, and so forth). Someone at quality control definitely fell at the computer!

Overall, it may be unsurprising to say that this is yet another VCA Classic DVD that should not be overlooked, especially for the DVD collector who wants a taste of the unjustly forgotten titles. For porn historians such as myself, watching all-natural beauties like Alicia Monet, Kathleen Jentry and the late Megan Leigh is worth my hard-earned dollar.
